They came to the waiting room so I sat up.

The mama had her hands in the back pockets of her pants. August wasn't anywhere to be found.

"Uhm... so the doctor said Ari suffered a ... well maybe I should give yall a back story. For those of you who don't know my daughter, she has a history with nuts, as a luh girl um... she had a severe food allergy to nuts and you know I don't know if it was miracle, but when she was three... or four it miraculously went away. I don't know how, but the doctor said she was cleared. She had her periods where she'd eat food with nuts inside of them, but I started noticing her coughs to them and I told her she couldn't eat stuff like that anymore cause I wasn't tryna have to deal with ... I mean what happened today. I didn't want it to happen."

She was looking at the wall behind me as she spoke. Kim did that shit when she explained stuff sometimes, I see where she got it from.

I used that to look at Keyanna. The resemblance between her and Kim was there. They had a few of the same  freckles or whatever beauty marks or whatever on they necks and collar bone.

"...mild to severe reaction today where her throat began swelling up along with her airways, hence why she couldn't catch her breath. Knowing my daughter, I'm sure she was trying to get our attention for awhile, so  I guess what I'm tryna say is lesson today is be aware of your surroundings cause  judging from what the doc said... if August hadn't noticed his daughter struggling to breath she woulda been in a tougher situation. " she finally gave eye contact to us

"Questions?"

"Can we see her?" Jamal asked

"Oh yea.. so doctor told me she ain't seein' no one tonight. She just wanna be alone, she should be released tomorrow. I mean I could ask the doc if she wanna see specific people, but the doctor made it pretty clear that she doesn't wanna see anyone"

"Why?" Drew asked

Keyanna looked at Drew then shrugged, "she's probably just embarrassed, don't think there's a personal reason, my daughter really hates when she isn't up and running."

August came out the door and I looked at him.

"How is she?" Kayden asked

"She said she's tired. The medication kickin in"

"How?-- " Drew quickly stopped what he was about to say then silenced himself

I stood up grabbing my things. They dapped me up and I looked at the nurse who kept eyeing me.

I dapped up Fizz, Drew, and Jamal.

"Mane you better double check cause ion believe that bullshit she had to say about no guest." Fizz said

"Forreal" Drew sucked his teeth, "her and pops don't even get along like that. How he automatically the first person she gets to see?" He asked

"Maybe cause that's her dad" I said

"You know what I mean nigga"

I seen Kayden come over, "Yall tryna see her too?"

I nodded, they did too.

"Well. I can promise she'd see one two" she motioned to Fizz and I ".... maybe you two as well." She said pointing to Jamal and Drew.

"But Raquel I promise you she ain't gon wanna see you, bruh" She said

"... I wasn't tr-tryna see her, I'm rollin wit Drew, so I kinda gotta sit around and wait"

Kayden looked at him, you can tell she wasn't fuckin wit him at all. She was good at holding back tho. I'll give her props to that.
