After school had ended, I found Terence waiting for me outside the gates.

He still managed to look ridiculously classy and composed at the dusty asphalt road, where many students were staring openly at one of father's expensive cars.

As soon as he saw me, he gave me a quick nod and ushered me inside.

I managed to give him a tight lipped smile while he started the engine.

The whole way back, I was lost in thought , staring into space absentmindedly, fingering the cloth of my shirt.

"So.. how was your day?"

Terence's voice startled me from my dazed stupor.

"Nothing much." I replied, after a moments pause.

The rest of the ride was a silent one.

I made myself go through the notes that Mr Ang had told me to go through, but more often than not, I found myself staring into the distance.

Did I really want to kill Andrew? Was he even the last descendant? For all I know, it could just be some weird chemical reaction or static.

Tapping my finger steadily on the table, I didn't hear Mom calling me down for dinner, until she came right at the door.

"Dinner time, Cerise," she called softly.

I picked at my food like a five year old child, lost in thought. Even David's cooking didn't seem to cheer me up.

From the corner of my eye, I saw dad exchanging a worried look with mum.

Mum cleared her throats gently, and I looked up.

"So, how was school?" She enquired, "You seem awfully quiet today. Did anything happen?"

"If somebody dares to bully my Daughter, they better say sorry," My Father said dramatically, poking his German sausage with a fork," or I'll show them how sorry they'll be. They will never see daylight again!" Said father as he punched his sausage into the air, waving it dramatically as though he was summoning lightning.

"No need for the drama, Earnest." My mum looked at me, rolling her eyes.

"Well dramatic is my middle name." He joked .

We sat there all laughing. The tense atmosphere had been broken.

During the rest of the meal I was just telling them how my day of school went, my new friends and some mischievous stuff that the boys did during class.

My Father said that the boy that managed to fold a paper airplane that was used to fly and stick into his friends hair was a genius.

My Mother said that they were plain mischievous, and scoffed at my father's look of disbelief. She whispered to me ( in a very loud voice) that he was the one that invented that trick, and that one of his paper airplanes had dropped into her hair once.

She also said that my friends were very nice and that she would not mind if they came over for any parties, play dates or projects.

As long as they cleaned up after themselves and did not cause a "riot".

"Just remember to do well and do everything to the fullest. Remember, you know you have achieved perfection not when you have nothing more to add, but when you have nothing more to take away." She told me, "And remember to be humble, don't go bragging about our house. Some people are not as fortunate as us, so we have to be sensitive to others."

"And remember, no dating or any relationships,  since no man except me of course or boy is good enough for my daughter." Said my Father proudly. My Mother rolled her eyes and said I could start dating when I'm twenty-eight, and this ensued into a tiny debate with my Father.
