The first day of second grade made every thing worse for Jacob after a long summer of him running and hiding from Aurora. He walked into Ms.Smith's class, and all it took was a second for Aurora to turn around and that's how it got worse. "Jacob you're here!" She screamed which caused everyone's attention to turn towards him. She ran in between a row and hugged him. After that everyone started making fun of him.
In lunch all the boys would ask him 'when are you going to marry her?' He would simply ignore their question. She had always chased him at recess and the girls would sit on the swings singing,"Aurora and Jacob sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
Throughout the rest of the elementary years, she always chased behind him as they were always put in the same class. Everyone was immature enough to make fun of him. Over the years he met Mark Thomas. His best friend. Mark Thomas always thought Aurora was a weird girl.
When they reached middle school Aurora was still dressing as if she was still in 3rd grade and had gotten braces, plus a baby brother named Elijah. Jacob and Aurora had their 1st period together. "Hi Jacob." Aurora would greet every morning. He never replied back and she simply shrugged it off.
In 7th grade, they ended up with their 2nd period together and Aurora was still same. And a change happened at home for Jacob. His grandfather had come to live with them so his parents could take care of him. Aurora's family had lost their tree as the city had cut it down, which resulted her in never riding the bus after that and her in the newspaper.
Now their 2nd period they shared, it was a literature class and when Aurora realized that Jacob couldn't spell somethings correctly, she would make sure no one was looking and lean up to his ear whisper how to spell the words correctly.
As a simple pay back, he would seem nicer to her. By greeting her. She was always happy when that would happen and talk to her best friend, Mia Lane, about it.
Mia felt horrible for Aurora. Everyone except Aurora herself could see that Jacob didn't like her, even as a friend. As a way of not hurting her best friend's feelings, Mia would fake happiness for her.
When 8th grade hit the corner and Jacob grew heavily annoyed, so he would sometimes take it out on her. On the last day of school, Aurora called his name out. She was chasing behind him to tell him to have a good summer. She didn't want to text it because she wanted to see his face one last time before she went to her aunt's house for the summer.
He turned around with an angry look on his face,"god what do you want Aurora? You're so annoying." He didn't even listen to what she had to say, so he quickly went and got on his bus waiting for it to ride away. Mia saw her best friend upset so she touched her shoulder as she asked her what's wrong.
Aurora simply shrugged it off and wiped the tear that came out her eye away. She quietly whispered,"Have a good summer." to Mia and walked off to her bike. She put her backpack in the basket of her bike and started off to home.
