Chapter four: First day of high school
When Aurora arrived home, it was the weekend before school started back up again. She came home after midnight so of course everyone except her parents were asleep. She spent the whole weekend organizing her new clothes and pulling out an outfit for each day of the week.
When Monday came around, Aurora was ready to go and she was happy with her new choice of clothes. She had traded in some of her dresses for shirts and jeans. Or crop tops and shorts. Her lacy socks for sandals or basic socks. She also learned many new hairstyles and how to do makeup.
When she woke up that morning, she got ready and ate a nice healthy breakfast. She kissed her baby brother's, mother's, and father's cheek goodbye. She had got on her bike and had everything in the bike she usually did which was her phone and earbuds in her pocket and her backpack in her basket. After a nice ride, she arrived at school and locked her bike up.
She spotted Mia in the halls. "MIA!" She ran up and hugged her. Jacob stood with Mark, watching the whole thing go down, expecting her to run up to him. Instead she continued down the hall, ignoring him and towards the counselor's office to get her schedule whereas everyone had already got their's at open house.
Mia and Aurora reached the counselor's office and Aurora entered then returned with her schedule. They examined her schedule and became happy when they saw that they basically had all of their classes together and luckily had the same lunch period. They began their walk towards their homeroom and she saw Jacob. He was staring at her.
She ignored him staring at her and walked with Mia to find a couple of seats that were beside each other. After finally finding the seats they wanted, which was sadly behind Jacob, she sat down beside Mia. She turned towards Mia and listened to her talking. After a few minutes of her listening to Mia, she felt eyes on her. She just ignored that and continued listening to what Mia was saying.

The lunch bell finally rang and together, Aurora and Mia walked out of their shared class. Aurora brought her lunch, so she snagged a table for her and Mia along with their other friends. Jacob finally spotted her and saw her alone. He walked over and sat at the table. "Tell me Aurora, why did you change? So you can impress me? Because it certainly isn't working." He smirked, talking with confidence.
Aurora rolled her eyes at him. "Listen Jacob, not everything is about you. I changed because I wanted to, not to impress some idiot boy. And I only changed my clothes, not my personality." Jacob got up and left but he was still shocked about what she said.
Finally Mia and their other friends saw her and sat down. They all gossiped while eating. Well not to much gossiping as they also went on their cellphones.

After a stressful first day of school, Mia came over to Aurora's house and they talked. Aurora thought about her 8th grade science fair project. She had raised chickens. After a while Mia left and Aurora checked on her chickens to see how well her parents helped taking care of them, then she found them having eggs.
She grew excited and called her parents out. They had fresh eggs, they didn't need to buy some from the grocery store anymore. When she finally finished counting them, she realized she had way to many, that meaning she could sell some and make a profit. Soon the same day, she had sold two dozens with had three left. She wanted to be nice, well it was more like her mom told her to repay Patty Sartorius for all the things she did for to help out the family.
She walked across the street and Jacob opened the door. "Hi Jacob, my mom said to give you guys some of the left over eggs so here you go." She handed over the dozen and walked away. She reached home and had a nice dinner.
She took off her makeup and had a shower before she laid down. She had closed her eyes and actually fell asleep without thinking of Jacob for the first time since she had been back.
But Jacob couldn't fall asleep, as he thought of how she changed everything; her look, her attitude towards him, and so much more.
