Killer Neko (Hunter x Hunter Fanfiction)

Chapter 5

After everyone failed this old man jumped down from a blimp that had begun to fly overhead. The aura around him let me know that he was very powerful. As I am right now I would be unable to beat him. That in all honesty pissed me off to admit.

"Chairman Netero" Menchi said with the bow of her head.

Based upon the circumstances I would say that the chairman was not pleased. Though I'm sure that I can safely assume that there will be a new test. Even without listening to them I can tell that my assumption was correct. Though I would like to know what the new challenge might be.

"Can you give us a lift in your blimp to mount split-in-half?" Menchi asked, giving me an idea as to what the new challenge is.

If I am correct there should be spider-eagle eggs, there. Which if the challenge relates to that then I will be passing easily. Though I should be careful; I don't want anyone to have their eyes on me. Well at least not more than they already are. That would be a major pain to deal with.

It didn't take long to reach mount split-in-half after we had boarded the blimp. When we got there Menchi led us over to the canyon edge. Upon looking down at the webs my world, no my vision went black.

Third Person POV.

As Menchi was explaining what the new challenge was Kat jumped. Netero's eyes widened in surprise as he saw this. The other examinees freaked out, thing the young girl had just committed suicide. Looking over the edge though they were able to see Kat balancing on a web with her bare feet.

Before anyone could call to her she had jumped further down. Until finally she was balanced on a web that had an egg sac attached. Everyone watched silently as the young girl lowered herself to sit on the web.

Then she slid back and was hanging on by her legs. Watching her do this Leorio was freaking out, thinking the girl insane. As Kat was hanging there she reached and grabbed one of the many eggs.

After successfully grabbing an egg she swung herself. This caused her to almost fall. She was now hanging on the web with one hand, the other hand/arm holding onto the egg securely. From this position she was able to what appeared to be miraculously pull herself up back onto the web.

With her feet once again allowing her to balance on the web Kat used both arms to hold (hug) the egg close to her. She then proceeded to jump up the layers of the web. After reaching the webs top layer she crouched down only to jump up higher to reach the top of the cliff.

The other examinees moved out of the way of where she was moving. She landed easily and gracefully in the cleared area. When she did land though everyone was staring at her. Staring as though they saw her as inhuman, as a monster. Well, all but the obvious few like innocent Gon or the perverted clown Hisoka.

Kat POV.

I finally came to only to see everyone staring at me. At first, I was confused by this. That is until I noticed the egg in my arms. Then I understood. I lowered my head so that nobody could see my eyes.

Of course, I just had to react and do this. My past finally coming back to haunt me. All of these people just saw that I'm a freak. A monster.

"We could always kill them~" A voice cooed in my head.

"If you would only embrace me then we could easily kill them all~" it continued with a chuckle.

No, I would not kill them. Some of them would be too difficult to even try. Others I wanted to befriend. I am not a killer, not anymore.

"Don't fool yourself. We are one in the same~" The voice cooed once more before fading with a malicious chuckle.

"That was so cool Kat-chan!" I heard Gon exclaiming as he ran up to me.

I smiled slightly at his innocence, "Ne, you think so?" I asked him.

"Yeah!" Gon said cheerfully while rapidly nodding his head.

Looking up I saw that Killua had followed Gon over to me. Though his eyes showed that he was weary of me. I had wanted to befriend Killua. So, seeing him look at me like that was a bit upsetting. It hurt me quite a bit, though I tried to ignore it.

"Just don't try that for yourself Gon." I said as I moved my eyes to look into Gons.

"Eh? It looked fun though." Gon said with a slight pout.

"You weren't trained to do that though." I told him while looking at him firmly, "I'm sure that Menchi will show you a safer way to reach the eggs." I told him before smiling.

"Okay!" Gon said with a large grin before moving back to the group.

Everyone slowly started to turn away from me. Reading their eyes, I could decipher one word that they all appeared to be thinking, monster. They saw me as though I were some kind of monster. If I listened to that voice inside me then I really would be one. Though I suppose I still am since that voice is my own.
