6 Months Later
"Stop it!!" Vyla yelled. She was curled in a ball on the floor. Her hands covering her face. She was sobbing, laying next to the bed.
"Vy. Hey. It's me." She heard an echoed voice. It was so far away. Who is that?, she wondered.
"Please don't." She sobbed out, not moving from her position.
"Baby. It's ok. It was only a dream, ok?" Corey said, keeping the same calm voice he always used when she was scared.
She wouldn't move, or let him touch her. She had been curled up on the floor for an hour. He'd never seen her do this before. It was like she was awake, but she didn't know where she was. She was shaking.
She had laid down to take a nap that afternoon. Corey had been downstairs, hanging out with Sid, when he heard her. He came upstairs as fast as he could, to find her like this on the floor. He tried to touch her arm and she moved, terrified.
"Vy? Can you just look at me. Please, baby?" He asked, almost in a whisper.
She dropped her hands from her face. He held his breath, hoping she would look at him. He watched as she tilted her head up slightly. He carefully moved his hands closer for her to see them.
He watched as she carefully looked at his hands. He head snapped up, looking at him. "Oh my god. Corey. I'm so sorry." She sobbed, throwing herself into his arms. She was almost hyperventilating, her breathing was so fast and frantic.
He held on to her tight. "What happened Vy? You scared me." He said quietly, as he sat on the floor. He could feel her trembling, as she held on to him sobbing.
"Baby, what happened? You wouldn't let me near you. I've been trying to talk to you for an hour. What scared you so bad?" He whispered.
"Gabe." She whispered. Startled, Corey leaned back cupping her face to look at him.
"What about Gabe, baby?" He asked worried.
"I couldn't get to the river in time to save him. I kept having the same dream over and over. Each time, my hand would be on the door handle of his truck, right as he pulled the trigger. I watched it each time." She said, tears flowing down her face.
"Goddamn Vy. That's fucking awful." He whispered. "Are you ok?" He asked hugging her to his chest tightly. She nodded slightly. He kissed the top of her head.
She leaned back slightly, looking at him. "I didn't know where I was Corey. I didn't know you were talking to me for the longest time. Why does this keep happening? I just want to sleep in peace." She said, sitting up to wipe her eyes.
"They're getting to be less and less babe. You only have about one a month now. The doctor told you when you have one, it may be bad. But they're gonna go away, ok? You don't have them every time you sleep now. That's a huge improvement." He said. She nodded.
He brushed her hair behind her ear, giving her a soft smile. "Sid's here want to come down?" He asked.
"In a bit. I need a shower." She said.
"Molly is outside the door. I wouldn't let her in. Want to see her?" He asked grinning.
"Of course I do." She grinned.
He stood, walking to the door. Once it was open, Molly came running in, happily licking her in the face, making her laugh.
"Are you sure you're ok?" Corey asked.
"Yeah. I'll be down in a bit. Go hang with Sid." She said, walking to the bathroom.
Corey walked back downstairs. Sid was watching tv. He looked up at Corey worried. "She alright man?" He asked.
"I think so. She only has a bad one about once a month. But it's bad when she does. I almost called Tiny. She wouldn't let me touch her even." He said.
"Shit. That is bad. She's seems to be doing better though. Not so jumpy, can be by herself for a longer period of time." Sid said.
"Yeah. It's been almost a full year. She knew it would be a while before she felt better. I knew it was gonna be rough though. She told me the other night that she doesn't hate Mason anymore. She doesn't like him, never will. But she doesn't hate him. She's way more forgiving than me." Corey said.
"No shit? How can she not hate him?" Sid asked in disbelief.
"I have no idea, honestly." Corey said, shaking his head.
"She's one hell of a girl man." Sid said grinning.
Corey nodding in agreement. "That's true. I have no idea how I was lucky enough to have her be my wife." He grinned.
"Right? You're a lucky bastard. You guys thinking about kids or anything?" Sid asked.
"We, uh, are looking at adopting maybe." He said carefully.
"Don't want to do it the old fashioned way?" Sid asked, grinning.
"That's not the problem. They, uh, don't think she can have kids. There's like a 5 percent chance she can." He said, quietly.
"Oh, fuck. Man I'm sorry. Shit. I really didn't mean anything bad. Fuck." Sid said, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"No, don't worry about it. She told me six months ago. She was afraid I was going to leave her over it. I was disappointed, but, it's not her fault." Corey said.
"She really thought that?" Sid asked.
He nodded. "It reminded me of the second night she stayed with me. She told me that she had to show me something, and understood if I didn't want her around after I saw. She showed me what happened to her back. She was scared that it would freak me out or something. This was kind of the same thing." He said.
"Wow. I cant believe how bad her self esteem was, you know? I didn't know until that shopping trip. You should of heard Marilyn when it was just me and him talking. Marilyn said he knew that a guy had to of done that to her. Said he'd gladly slit the fuckers throat." Sid said. "I don't think he was kidding either. I've never seen the dude that pissed." Sid grinned.
"No shit? Marilyn acts like nothing bothers him most times." Corey said, a little stunned.
"Yeah. He was fucking bent man. He felt terrible about wanting Vy to try on that shirt. Like he felt BAD." Sid said.
"She wasn't upset about it. She knew you guys weren't being dicks or anything. You just didn't know. She was totally cool about it." Corey said.
"I think it's awesome that she wears tank tops now." Sid said smiling. Corey shot him a dirty look.
"Oh fuck man. I didn't mean it like that." He said making them laugh. "I meant that she doesn't care who sees it now. I was with her in the store one day, and this old lady kept giving her dirty looks. Vy asked her what her problem was, and the lady told her she should cover up her back. Vy got pissed. She told the lady she should jump up her own ass. I cracked up man. But Vy didn't let it bug her. She grinned at me and didn't give it a second thought." Sid chuckled.
"She does have a natural talent of telling someone to get fucked, doesn't she?" Corey said laughing.
"Who am I telling to get fucked?" They heard from the stairs.
"About fucking time girl!" Sid yelled to her, making her laugh.
She ran into the living room jumping on Sid's lap, making him laugh. He hugged her, as she stayed in his lap. They both turned and grinned at Corey, knowing it bugged him slightly.
"You two are dicks." Corey said, chuckling.
"I better sit in his lap before he gets jealous." She said grinning.
"Should I call Jim over too, so he can tell me all the places he's taking you when you two run away together?" Corey asked sarcastically.
"Would you mind? He did promise me a monkey. Tell him I'm still waiting." She said, watching him glare at her.
She laughed, getting off of Sid's lap, moving on to his. "Oh, now I'm ok to sit with." He grinned.
"Yeah. I'll save the jealousy for the next time we see Jim." She said making Sid laugh.
"Asshole." Corey chuckled. She nodded happily.
"You guys coming over tomorrow night for dinner? Everyone else is coming too." Sid said.
"Can we build a blanket fort again?" Vyla asked.
"Fuck yeah! Like you have to ask." Sid said to her.
"Cool. I'm game." She grinned.
"What if he said no?" Corey asked amused.
"I'd still go." She grinned.
Sid stood up, making his way to the door to leave. "I'll see you tomorrow night." He said.
"Bye Sid!" Vyla yelled to him.
"Bye Vy! And Corey." He laughed, closing the door.
"Feeling better?" Corey asked her.
"Yeah. Molly helped some too. She demands belly rubs when I get upset." She grinned.
"She's an awesome dog. Glad we got her." Corey said, reaching down to rub her ears.
"Oh, here's your phone." She said handing it to him. "You had a missed call. Who's Scarlett?" She asked.
She watched his face fall. "Uh. No one. Someone I should have deleted out of my phone a long time ago." He said uncomfortably.
She moved off of his lap, turning to look at him. "So why is she calling you now, and who is she?" Vyla asked.
Corey rubbed the back of his neck, shifting in his seat. "She's my ex. I don't know why she's calling. I don't care." He said, looking away.
"I think you do care. You're nervous." She said.
She watched as his cheeks went pink slightly. She raised her eyebrows at him. "No. I don't care." He said, sounding a little defensive.
"Sure. Let me know when you convince both of us of that. I'll be out back. I have some things I need to blow up." She said standing.
"Vy, I'm not calling her back or anything." He said looking at her.
"Whatever. You aren't going to tell me. So I don't have anything to say to you." She said, walking up the stairs.
He got up, following her to the bedroom. "Babe, she does this from time to time. Just calls out of the blue." He said.
"Know what I have a hard time with?" She asked opening her ammo safe. "How she has your number, since you changed it a year ago." She said turning to looking at him.
He looked down at the floor. "Babe I have no idea. I swear." He said, looking back at her.
Vyla turned putting the ammo away. She shook her head at him, going to walk past him. He stopped in front of her. "Corey, I'm going for a drive. I need to be alone." She said, not looking at him.
"Vy. It's not what you think." He said softly.
"I don't know what to think since you won't tell me shit. Right now, I feel like you're hiding something. If you are with her, you better tell me right fucking now." She said looking at him, glaring.
"I'm not with her. I swear on everything Vy." He said looking her in the eyes.
She looked at him hard, trying to read him. She could see the sincerity in his eyes. His expression softened. His eyes were almost pleading with her. "I would never do that Vyla. Never." He said. She could hear the hurt in his voice.
"Then tell me about her." She said.
He grabbed her hand, walking them downstairs. He sat them down on the couch. "We dated for a really long time. Like 6 years. The last year we were together, was off and on. She had left me a few weeks before you and I met." He said looking at her.
"She tried calling a few times, or texting after we met. I just never responded. I didn't want to. I was with you, and you made me happy. Happier than I have ever been. I heard from Jay, shortly after you and I got together, that she wanted me back. Jay told her I met someone and to stay away." He said. She smiled softly.
"The last year her and I were together off and on, I changed my number a few times because of her. She would call all the time when we weren't together. Some how she always got the number. It seems it took her longer this time." He said. Vyla laughed. He looked at her puzzled.
"I feel like an asshole now." She said grinning.
"What? Why?" He asked confused.
"Babe. You realize there are services out there where you can pay to get someone's phone number? That's why I went with phones you could throw away. They weren't registered to anyone. That's why it always freaked me out when Mason would get my number." She said.
"Seriously? Is that even legal?" He asked, sounding amazed.
She nodded. "Yeah it is. See why I was so scared?" She asked him.
He nodded. "How the hell did Tiny get your number then?" He asked.
"Only Tiny knows that. He'll never tell you. I stopped asking a long time ago what Tiny does." She said grinning. Corey laughed, nodding.
"Christ. You really were a ghost weren't you? No bank accounts, throw away phones. He really spent all of his time following you didn't he?" Corey asked rather seriously.
"Yeah. It was an obsession. When he was at work, I would read about how to disappear. I always cleared out the browser history. I had been preparing to leave for almost a year. I couldn't find the right time, until that one night. It was leave or be killed." She said.
"Jesus. I never really sat and thought about it until now." He sat shaking his head.
"Baby, I would never be with someone else. I swear to you. I love you. She cheated on me, I know how it feels. I wouldn't do that." He said, moving closer to her.
She smiled softly. "I would hope not. I'll call your grandma if you did." She laughed.
His face fell, as his eyes went wide. "Oh, god. No way. She adores you, and she would kill me. I'm more scare if her than Tiny." He smiled.
She kissed him softly. "Good. She a wonderful woman. Which she wants to know when we will come see her again." She smiled.
"Soon. I promise." He said kissing her back.
"I want you to come with me somewhere." He said seriously.
"Ok. Are we going to the woods?" She asked, making him laugh.
"No. Come on." He said, pulling her up off the couch.
They got in the car, as he drove down the highway. "I have been meaning to take you here." He said quietly.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"You'll see." He said, almost sadly.
A few minutes later, he pulled into the cemetery. She looked at him before they got out. "Paul?" She asked. He nodded.
They got out walking a little cut her in. They stopped at a headstone. He sat down, pulling her down with him. She reached over, brushing the dirt off of the headstone. She sat back, laying her head on his shoulder.
"You two would have made great friends. I'm telling you. He was the nicest guy. He kept us all in line. He could settle an argument so damn fast. But he was also a generous person. Would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it." Corey said quietly.
"He would of had you telling him your life story, and you would of just opened up willingly to him." He said looking at her. She smiled sadly at him.
"He wouldn't of had to force me to talk to him, huh?" She asked grinning at him.
"Nope. He could make anyone talk about anything. He always gave great advice. And he had the best hugs." He said leaning into her more.
She hugged him into her. "You ok?" She asked him softly.
He looked up at her and smiled. "Yeah. I haven't been here in a while. I'm glad I came." He said, kissing her cheek.
"Thank you for bringing me. It means alot to me." She said.
They sat in silence for a while. He grabbed her hand, helping her up. "I'll see ya Paulie." Corey said softly. He gripped her hand, walking to the car.
They got in and she turned to him. "Are you sure you're ok?" She asked.
He nodded. "I am now." He grinned slightly.
He started the car, pulling away. She reached over, grabbing his hand, holding it. "So, I was thinking of maybe getting a second opinion." She started to say.
"On what?" He asked keeping his eyes on the road.
"On if the doctor's were right. About not having kids." She said quietly.
He suddenly pulled over the car to the side of the road, slamming the car in park. Startled, she looked at him confused.
"Seriously?" He asked her, smiling. She nodded.
"I think they got it wrong." She said, grinning.
"Why is that?" He asked
"Well, I took a test a little bit ago. It said I'm pregnant." She said.
He took off his seat belt, lifting the center console, moving over to her. He undid her seat belt. She looked at him, watching a giant smile spread across his face. He grabbed her, kissing her hard. She placed her hand softly on the side of his face, as he kissed her passionately.
He pulled back, breathless. She looked at him, as he pulled her back again, moving his mouth tenderly over hers. He moved to the side of her neck, dragging his mouth to the sensitive spot behind her ear. "I guess you're ok with that?" She asked, giggling at him.
"Mhmm." Was all she heard, as he drug his teeth lightly over her neck, making her shiver.
"Babe. We're on the side of the road, remember?" She asked laughing.
"Mhmm. Don't care." He mumbled into her neck, making her moan quietly, as his tounge slid over her skin.
He pulled back, brushing her lips with his, kissing her deeply. They were interrupted by a tap on the window. They both jumped, looking to see an amused police officer standing there.
Corey rolled down the window. "Hey officer." He said.
"They have places called hotels, or your own home, son." The officer grinned.
Corey's face turned slightly red, as he smirked. "Yeah. Sorry about that. My wife and I just found out we're having a baby. We, uh, may have gotten a little carried away." He said, slightly embarrassed.
"Congratulations son. Now why don't you move on, so the rest of the public doesn't have to witness that, ok?" The officer said, making all three of them laugh.
"Yeah. Will do. Sorry." Corey grinned. The officer nodded walking back to his car. Corey started the car, as Vyla laughed. He laughed, shaking his head.
"A little embarrassed there, Taylor?" She teased.
"Well, I wasnt expecting a cop to walk up on us." He laughed, as he pulled the car back on to the road.
They arrived home shortly after. He pulled her into him hard. "Are you really serious?" He asked.
"Yeah. I am. I take it, you're happy?" She asked.
"Yes." He said, pressing his mouth against hers. He quickly moved to her neck. "I love you so much." He said, moving back to her mouth, giving her a long, lingering kiss. "I want you so bad, baby." He said, as his hands roamed over her.
"Then you better move us away from the door." She grinned.
He leaned down, picking her up, quickly moving to the couch. He laid her down, already removing most of his clothes. He leaned down, taking hers off of her. "Holy shit! You weren't kidding." She laughed, watching him.
"No. I want you so bad right now." He said in a husky voice. He leaned over her, taking her nipple in his mouth, sucking and licking it gently, then moving to the other side. Her hands tensed on his shoulders, as she moaned.
He moved back up to her mouth, brushing his lips over hers, as he ran his tounge over her bottom lip, then gently tugging on it with his teeth.
"I love you." He whispered in her ear, as brushed his mouth on the sensitive spot right behind her ear. She shivered at his touch.
He felt her wrap her legs around his waist, urging him closer. He pressed into her, making them moan. He felt her lift her hips to him, moving to meet his pace. He was moving slow, letting the intensity between them. "Mmm. That feels good." Vyla groaned.
He thrust into her slowly, while licking at her nipples, making her gasp at the sensation of both. He repeated both movements over and over, until she was arching under him, begging him to go faster.
Smirking, he moved slow into her again, this time sucking on her nipple ever so gently, making her pull him into her hard with her legs. He groaned, caught off guard by her movement. "Want me to go faster, baby?" He teased in a rough voice.
Not saying a word, she looked at him as she pulled him in harder. Watching his head go back, as he moaned. "Fuck! That must mean yes." He whispered, grinning at her.
He increased his pace, as she moved her hips under him. Her hands, running through his hair, as she pulled him down to her mouth. She kissed him hard, yet tenderly at the same time, making him moan into her mouth. She pulled back, sucking and nibbling on his neck, all the way up to his ear, making him shudder hard.
Soon, they both became frantic with need and desire. He felt her walls tensing around him, just as he felt his whole body tingling. She was saying his name over and over, as she suddenly arched her back off the couch and into him. He tensed hard, moaning loudly to her.
He pulled away, moving so they could face each other. "I'm so happy. I love you, Corey." Vyla said to him.
He kissed her softly. " Me too. I love you Vyla." Corey said.
And they all lived happily ever after.
