Chapter 39
*Shane's POV*
"So in case you were wondering, you were arrested because-"
"I refused to leave my partner. I know." I interrupted the man in the passenger seat.
"Have you been arrested before?"
He read from a clipboard.
"No."
"What is your partner's name, age, birthdate and gender?"
"Why don't you just give me the clipboard and a pen?"
"I can't, sir. Now, is there a reason you don't want to talk about your partner?"
And there was. I was done having to defend my rights.
"No."
He sighed. I don't understand why though, I mean it's his job to ask all the clipboardshit.
"So, name, age, birthdate, gender."
"Do you also need his middle name?"
"Mr. Dawson!"
Yes, it's his job to be annoyed by hardheaded criminals.. How lucky is he to have me here, this twenty five year old annoying idiot.
"Joseph Michael Graceffa, twenty two years old, I don't know the birthdate.. Same for the gender."
He sighed again.
"Listen, I know more about you then you think. My cousin watches you on YouTube. She likes that... Shanay-"
"I was going to record new Shanaynay stuff." I said.
"Why didn't you then?" The other man said. He had been silent all the way to where we were now.
"Because you and mr. Clumsy Clipboardboy arrested me."
"Could you try to be less annoying sir?" The guy with the clipboard said as he turned red.
"Could you try to sound like you're 'asking' a question instead of 'reading'?"
"I should be trying to hit you right now but by how your face looks I think you've already had enough. How did you get that?"
"Look, that's a better way of asking me your questions!"
We stopped. He clicked his pen and opened his door. He opened my door and sunlight came in like I was looking at Joey's teeth. Blinded by the light I fell back on the backseat.
"Mr. Dawson, what even?"
"Do I look like I ever go out in the sun?"
He let out his -what it seemed, 158th- sigh and helped me up.
"We'll go into the office now. Don't even try to be funny."
"Hah! That's what my partner said last night!" I joked.
"Please.." The guy with the clipboard said. We entered a place they called the office, but it didn't smell like an office. More like Joey's laundry.
Stop referring everything to Joey, Shane!
Once I sat down, with my hands on my back, Clipboardboy sat in opposite of me and asked me questions about my face, why I wouldn't leave Joey's property and I had to tell them stuff about myself.
Clipboard guy stood up and said: "Okay Shane, We'll keep you here one night. If the person whose property you wouldn't leave comes looking for you, you're free to leave already."
Once I sat in this small, isolated room with nothing more than a bed, a toilet and a sink I just let myself fall down on the bed. I didn't know if I wanted Joey to come or I wanted to be alone in here for the rest of the day.
As I lay on the hard bed everything around me slowly faded away.
*Joey's POV*
"Mom!"
She stormed in the all where I still sat on the floor.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" She shouted desperately.
"Nothing! I didn't want to scare you, I'm sorry."
"Oh okay.. Well, what did you call me for?"
"Can you please drive me to the police office? I need to see Shane."
She didn't say yes.
"Joey, be honest with me. Do you love him?"
"I've been telling you since the moment you first saw him. Will you drive me, yes or no?"
"Get in the car." She answered, grabbing her coat.
*Shane's POV*
I woke up feeling someone pull me up.
"You have visitors. One to be exact."
I opened my eyes and recognized the guy that had the clipboard on my way to this place.
"Where'd your clipboard go?"
"If only you would be more mature.. How old were you again?"
Suddenly I heard a voice from behind us.
"He is 25."
I turned around and saw the whitest smile ever.
Yes. That's right. Joey was there to get me.
