The Infected Are Not The Only Ones That Want To Kill Us...Apparently

Chapter 16-

**Caden’s POV**

“What is there to talk about?” I said. I didn’t have anything to do with this, so I don’t see why he has to talk to me. Besides, it’s a subject I’d rather not discuss.

“We want to talk about what you saw earlier, between Anthony and I” Bugger said. Bugger standing up for something?, holy shit this must be a serious evolution.

“Dude, we got nothing to talk about, I’m not your mom or anything, I don’t see how this has to do with me, I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time” I said. “Besides you are the one who decides what you like, there’s no need for me to judge or anything” I added. I mean, I really didn’t want to talk about this.

“Yeah, but I want to make things clear” I heard him say. The hell? He made it sound as if I caught him cheating on me.. Now I was getting irritated.

“I told you, this doesn’t involve me, so why don’t you go talk to your sister and his mom” I said pointing at Anthony. “You don’t have to explain anything to me, it’s not like I caught you cheating on me, so stop making it sound as if we ever had something” I added.

He looked taken aback by what I told him but quickly recovered. He looked over at Mike and he looked surprised.

“I didn’t know you were here” Bugger told him.

I looked over at Mike and he had this amused look on him. “I guess you were too busy trying to make things clear to Caden to actually notice me here, listening to everything” He said. Seriously?. Self note: “kill Mike later”.

Bugger didn’t say anything he was just there silently looking at Mike, trying to form any words.

“It never passed through my mind that you were gay,’ my brother in law’ ” He said amusingly.

“Well, that’s not something I want to show” Bugger said, more like a whisper.

“What?, I thought you would lose your fear if I was with you on this!” I heard Anthony say. Fuck, now we were going to witness a gay couple’s fight.

“It’s not that easy” Bugger said. And they kept going at it. I looked over at Mike who was holding in laughter and walking away slowly, I did the same.  That has nothing to do with me! Pshh.

“Yo, he’s nuts” Mike said, once we were out of the “fighting scene”.

“Well, that’s his problem” I said.

“I can’t believe he wanted to put you in the spot” He said.

I looked over at him confused. “What spot?” I said.

He looked at me as if I said the most stupidest thing in the world. “That you were gay” He finally said.

I laughed humorlessly. “No way!” I said.

“So you’re not really gay?” He asked. The hell?.

“No! man what the hell?” I said pushing him hard enough for him to hit the wall.

“Why are you so defensive?” He asked teasingly.

“Look I’m not gay, I’m sure” I said.

“If you say so” He said walking away. I was not gay, no way in hell I was 100% sure.

I needed to talk to Elli. I was walking over to the room when Josh grabbed me by my forearm.

“What?” I said.

“Mike went in there, I don’t know if you want to interrupt” He said.

“Who cares?” I said. They were not a couple for now, so I won’t be interrupting anything.

I was about to open the door but it was semi open and I heard voices. I saw that Mike’s back was touching the bathroom door and Elli was coming closer to him.

“No, stop, I can’t kiss you without you knowing who I am” He said.

“Who cares?, just kiss me” She said, getting closer to him. I could see that Mike didn’t want to reject her, and if I was him  I wouldn’t want to reject her either. He saw me there and silently asked me for help.

I opened the door loudly. “Mike I found it!” I said. Elli just got nervous and walked into the bathroom.

“Damn man, thanks for the save” He said.

“You’re welcome” I said.

“GUYS!!!!” Rick came yelling through the door.

“Ugh, what do you want” Mike said.

“There’s a helicopter flying around here!” He said.

“What!?” I said. Running to the roof behind them. I’m sure Mike and Elli were behind us too.

When we got there, everyone else was already there. They were looking up trying to see where the helicopter was.

“Did they see you guys yet?” I asked.

“No, but we are planning on it” Josh said.

“What’s going on?’’ I heard Elli ask.

“An old friend is coming over” Mike said. She shut up and didn’t ask anything else.

A few minutes passed when we heard the helicopter coming closer. We finally were able to see it and we all started shouting and waving at them.

I noticed that these were people from the P.E (Problems Extermination) team. Holy shit, this wasn’t a good sign. They only sent this guys, when there were some highly dangerous threats. They were perfectly trained to not have any pity and train to kill anything that was a threat.

I hope they were aiming at the infected. I had a bad feeling about this.

“Guys, we should get back a little, just in case they want to land” I said. Everyone else did what I suggested. The only ones that didn’t move was Amanda, Anthony, Bugger, and Anna. Damn, people don’t listen. Like being ahead of us was going to save them from this mess.

The people in the black suits and with professional looking guns, were looking down and started aiming their guns to the infected but didn’t shoot.

Anna was getting too close to the edge of the roof. “Anna, don’t get too close, we don’t want you to fall!” Amanda shouted.

“Hell, this woman won’t listen” Mike yelled, we started yelling instead of talking because the helicopter sound was too loud.

From that moment on everything happened in a blink of an eye. They started shooting, finally.

But sadly not at the infected. They started shooting at us.

“WHAT THE FUCK!” Mike yelled trying to cover Elli who was just screaming like crazy. I was going deaf!. Rick and everyone started going back inside, well trying. We were not just going to run knowing we could get shot easily. Everyone was already inside except for Amanda and Anna, and me. I wanted to be the last one so I could make sure everyone else was inside. All of a sudden I heard Amanda let out a piercing scream. I looked to their direction and saw that someone got shot. The helicopter left after that and everyone else came out.

Anna was the one who got shot. Amanda just stood there frozen and Anna was struggling to keep herself standing up. She got shot on the side of her neck. Which meant nobody could save her. She would die anyways. The only doctor we had, was just standing there without trying to go and put pressure on her wound.

Anna just smiled and looked up to the sky before any of us could react, she jumped from the roof.
