While She's Sleeping, I'm Running Trying To Save My Ass!

Chapter 22-

**Mike’s POV**

I saw her faint and ran to her right before she hit the floor.

“I knew that was gonna happen” I heard Josh say.

I turned my head to look at him. “She was gonna know about it anyways” I said.

It broke me to hear those words coming out of her mouth, “I’m sorry”. She was the last person in the world that owned me an apology.

“Hey, why the hell would they hang a rope here for?” Josh asked to some rope attached to one of the pipes and landing on the street outside.

“Like I know” I said.

We suddenly heard a lot of noise downstairs and Caden burst through the door running over to us.

“What the fuck is happening” Josh said.

Caden stopped for a second to catch his breath. “The”, “The” He said.

I placed Elli’s head down on the floor and stood up to Caden. “The what?’’ I asked grabbing his left shoulder.

“The infected got through the doors and all of them started to come in”, “We need to get out of here” Caden said. “Everybody is supposed to be in the garage” He added.

“What!?” Josh said, “I’m out!!!!, C’mon!” He said running towards the door.

Great, we’re supposed to stay in a group and the first thing he does is run away like a bitch.

I clenched my jaw and Caden just looked at me. “C’mon!” He said, motioning for the door.

I turned around and picked Elli up bridal style and started running towards the door. Like hell I was going to leave her here or let any infected near her. Even if it means I have to die.

We started running for the garage door but the infected were everywhere. We wouldn’t get past them.

“We won’t get past them” I said out loud.

“Yes we are” Caden said looking around.

I knew this was it, there was no way all three of us would get past them without being noticed. There would be at least one of them to notice us here hidden on the stairs. And then all of us would be fucked and my promise about protecting Elli will be broken.

“You’re right” I said. “You guys are” I added.

Caden looked at me like I was crazy. “No way, either we all get out or we all stay here” He said.

I laughed quietly in his face. “Like hell, I’m gonna put Elli in a silver plate for them to eat her” I said.

Caden looked uneasy and was about to protest when I cut him off. “Look, I’m going to distract them for you to take Elli safe with the others” I said. “Get the cars and I will meet you guys outside” I finished.

“How the hell” Caden said. “You’re not doing that, no way” He added shaking his head.

I gave Elli over to him, so he was now holding her the same way.

“Way” I said, smirking and running away from them to get their attention. They didn’t notice me, they were too busy trying to get past the garage door.

I remembered I still had the 9mm with me so I did something, that just a stupid man who wants to kill himself will do. I fired the damn gun in the air.

And this of course got their attention. “Yeah, you missed one, you fuckers!” I yelled. Like I was gonna get an answer from them, ha.

They turned to me and started walking slowly over to me. I looked over at Caden who was just there looking at me like an idiot.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GO FOR THE DAMN DOOR!!!!!!!!” I yelled at him. He gave me that look of goodbye, shit I was not dying here, not like this!. I rather die of being a sex addict or something. Hell.

He ran for the door at the same time the infected started charging at me. I was about to take off when I saw that Caden had stopped like 3 feet away from the door because an infected woman was slowly walking towards them. I ran for the stairs and aimed at the woman. I shot her right through her head and Caden looked over at me for a second before reaching the door and going in. I sighed because I knew that even if I died Elli was safe.

I suddenly forgot I was being chased and I snapped out of my thoughts when I felt someone grabbing my left arm. I looked down and a stupid bitch was trying to bite me.

“You’re gonna bite me bitch!!!” I yelled before I shot her right in the head. I then went up the stairs and reached the roof door. My eyes looked for something to save myself but I couldn’t find anything. It was just a matter of seconds for them to reach the door and opened it, all they had to do was push it open.

“Why the hell would they hang a rope here for?” I remembered Josh’s stupid question.

“Shit the rope!” I said out loud. I ran to my left and spotted the ‘Colt M4A1’ and decided to go get it.

It only took me like 5 seconds to reach it  and that was all the infected needed to show me their attractive faces from the door.

I hung the gun  over my shoulder and ran to the rope. Thank god that I could put this gun over my shoulder.

I reached the rope but looked down first, I could see the coast was clear, so I wouldn’t be landing on some other infected. Before I could think twice of what I was doing, I grabbed the rope and went over the edge so I could go down the wall with it. Just before that I felt someone trying to grab me from behind and heard a loud snarl from behind me. I quickly turned around and shot whoever was behind me in the head. In the eye to be more precise.

“Yeah, you too, have a nice one” I said sarcastically, before I started going down.

And I thought going to boot camp for summer was just wasting my time. I was almost 3 feet from the floor when I saw a damn infected fly past me. “Holy fuck!” I said.

I kept trying to go down when the infected started swinging the damn rope, and I fell on my butt. “Aw shit!” I said. I looked up and more infected were jumping from up there, only to end up dead from the fall. These guys were suicidal!.

“Yeah, thanks guys” I said.

When I fell I dropped my 9mm, so I went and picked it up, I got up and looked around but I couldn’t see the cars anywhere. I ran up ahead, just in case they had run into some ‘problems’ so it wouldn’t be too complicated to pick me up.

After 10 seconds of just standing there like a prostitute, I heard the engines of cars. And they didn’t even open the door. They just fucking went through it!.

They kept going. Great, they were gonna leave me here. They probably didn’t even notice me here.

 Of course not idiot! They’re shitting bricks right now! My inner voice said.

Great, fucking great. They kept going.
