Chico wandered down the hallway. The underground base was much bigger than the shack on top. She had been meaning to find Drez and share an interesting photo a citizen of Florence's town gave her but halted when she heard a sigh come from the room next to her. Inside was Stephen, he wasn't his usual happy/sarcastic self though. Instead he seemed lonely and sad.
"Knock, knock." Chico quietly spoke as she knocked on the door.
Stephen shot up in surprise and noticed the girl at the door, "Oh, hey Chico." It was like he hadn't been sat depressed at all, resuming his usual bright self.
"Are you okay? You didn't seem all that happy a moment ago."
"Me? No, I'm fine." He smiled at the girl who came to sit next to him. Her worry wouldn't fade and he gave in, "Oh... all right. Don't tell anyone but... I miss home." He resumed his unhappy demeanour.
"But you haven't seemed like you've been missing home until now."
"Truth be told. I've been wanting to go home since day one. I just..."
"Just what?"
"I... I just don't want to show it because I'll bring the mood down. It always happens. I'm sad and everyone else around me joins in. I put on a happy face because if I hide it, no-one else has to suffer for it."
"Oh..."
"Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being with you guys. It almost makes me dread the day I'll be able to go home. But, I didn't get to say goodbyes. My mum, my dad, my siblings, they're all..."
"...gone..."
Stephen only frowned.
"It's okay." Chico's small voice comforted him, "We'll get you home and you'll be able to see your family again. I'll make sure of it!"
Her friend smiled. "Thanks."
"In the meantime, I've got some photos to show Drez. They should help us find Cosmos."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go."
---------------------------------------------------------
"Interesting. This is a pretty good photo." Drez analysed the picture Chico gave him, "If I can use that building as a point of reference... Bingo!" Toot, Drez's tiny robot companion, sprayed a small handful of confetti.
"You find something?" Paz asked.
"Only satellite imaging of Cosmos' base. Give me a few moments and I should be able to get a blueprint."
"So how long wi-"
"Done!" A complete schematic of Cosmos' base popped up on screen. Every nook and cranny was detailed, including traps, hidden passages and power supplies. "With this information, we could infiltrate the base and stop whatever Cosmos is planning to do. What was that again?"
"Essentially, blow everything in existence up in a futile effort to go home." Stephen flatly responded, "Seems to be a running theme, doesn't it?"
"Let's go then. Every moment we spend chatting is a moment he has to prepare. We'd best attack before he knows what we're doing."
Agreeing nods responded. Stephen, Chico and Paz hopped onto the BIKE and set out for the destination Drez had found while their resident engineer stayed to inform them of the upcoming threats.
After the trio had left, the elevator, unusually, came back down.
"Did one of you forget something?" Drez didn't turn around but something definitely wasn't right...
