-Brenda's point of view

"Hey Babe, is everything ready?" Jackie asked me.

"I think so." I nodded.

"Okay, Aurora, Bryan, and Jade are on their way home from school." He informed me.

"What about the gang?" I asked.

"They're also on their way." He answered.

I nodded and went back to cooking the spaghetti. Today was Aurora's sixteen birthday, so we cooked her up a meal. She had said that she didn't want a party, so we decided to celebrate with the gang only.

"Momma, we're home!" I heard Jade yell.

"I'm in the kitchen!" I responded.

"Mmmm, it smells good!" Bryan almost drooled.

"It's cause your mom is cooking." Jackie ruffled his hair.

"Mom, Dad just messed up my hair! Tell him to stop!" Bryan whined.

"Who are you trying to impress?" I asked.

"This girl at school, and her name is-"

"Jade, shut up!"

"Wait, do you have a girlfriend?" I asked.

"N-no." Bryan shook his head.

"Why'd you stutter?" I raised a brow.

"Awe, My boy is growing up!" Jackie laughed.

"Bryan has been trying to get this girl at school named Scarlett." Aurora explained.

"Yeah, can I please invite her over for Aurora's birthday?" Bryan asked me.

"No, I don't like her." I shook my head.

"C'mon Brandon, it's just a girl! Plus, you don't even know her!" Jackie tried to convince me.

"I don't have to know her in order to like her or not. She's taking my baby away, and I'm not letting that happen. It's like saying that Aurora and Jade can invite guys over." I argued.

"Kids, Go to your rooms and start getting ready while I talk to your mom. Your cousins should be here any moment." Jackie ordered.

All three of them nodded, and ran off.

"What's going on, Brandon? Talk to me." Jackie asked me.

"I don't want the kids to grow up so fast. Aurora is sixteen already! I love all three of my babies, but Bryan is momma's little boy. I don't want him to have a girlfriend because I know she'll take him away from me." I explained.

"You dated Ethan in middle school. Bryan is in high school." Jackie pointed out.

"Yeah, but because our moms wanted us to date. Our families knew each other, which made it okay. I don't even know the girl's name." I defended myself.
