Fast Forward...
"Thank you all, and let me allow the 2017 seniors to take their last bow."
A girl stood proudly in the front row, smiling brightly, her eyes shining with tears.
A boy behind her standing tall, his eyes holding a deep meaning to the sparkle in them.
As the crowd cheered, the two looked at each other smiling so brightly the stars couldn't compare. Turning back to face the audience, they searched the faces.
Her eyes wandered to her mother and father, tears of joy streaming down their faces. They clapped and smiled with pride.
Next to the girl's parents, the boy's eyes wandered to the woman besides them. His mother. She clapped and clapped for her boy as a single tear slid down her face. A tear for how much of the boy's life she had missed, and how much she was determined to get back. He smiled at her and she waved at him.
The seniors all grasped each others hands and took their final bow, then walked off the stage. Immediately after everyone was off the stage, the girl was swept into the boy's arms. He twirled her around smiling and laughing with her. He thought about how lucky he was to have her in his arms.
Look Em, I did it.
She thought about how she had done her job. She had gotten him to smile, and it was because of her. Mission complete.
Untangling herself from him, she pulled out something from her pocket. Handing it to him, he smiled widely. She had given him a little red paper heart.
He then dug into his own pocket, and pulled out a slightly smaller paper heart, and gave it to the girl. She took it and put it to her heart.
The girl giggled, and it looked as if the boy chuckled. He then leaned down and gave the girl a kiss. She stood on her tiptoes and threw her arms around his neck, as their parents walked towards them, smiling knowingly.
The paper hearts, fluttered to the ground, as time seemed to still, but they weren't forgotten by the couple, after all it wasn't just paper to them. It was more.
