Coming Around

Jonas stared at his mother shocked to hear that his only sibling wasn't really supposed to be here. His father waited for a answer Jonas wanted to hear the truth but was scared to find out if he was also a burden on his parents marriage. 

"Blake" Teddy spoke hoarsely and in a whisper. Rage was the only emotion on Blake's face it was channeled at one person, Victoria's father. 

"Jonas!" Lily's voice came in loud and clear. The episode slowly disappeared fading hazily as Jonas's mind was pulled back to reality.

"Jonas! Wake up!" Lily wasn't just shouting it sounded like she was crying as well. Jonas didn't hesitate at all his eyes flung open that is when he saw Lily being dragged away by a man.

"Lily calm down I'm coming." Jonas ran for his friend who was moving farther and farther away by the minute. Then he started to wonder why Lily was having such a hard time fighting back sure her arms were pulled behind her back but she wasn't fighting at all. Something hit Jonas's foot he looked down and saw a plastic leg. It was Lily's prosthetic.

"Jonas! Help me please!" tears streamed Lily's pale face the man was dragging her into a large van. Jonas ran some more but tripped Lily started to scream. Jonas was getting himself up when someone pushed him back down. Another person ran in front of Jonas wearing a red hoodie and worn out jeans. The stranger beat the kidnapper up then pushed him in the van he wrapped his arm around Lily to help her back to her leg. 

Lily was set down on a bench Jonas handed her the prosthetic. The stranger had his hood up so Jonas still didn't know who he was.

"Thanks Jonas and thank you to you too." Lily strapped on her leg and shook the man's hand.

"It was nothing creeps like that deserve to be beaten up." as the man dropped his hood so did Jonas's jaw. Kevin had saved Lily the drunk that almost broke his parents up, Victoria's biological father. Jonas wanted to thank Kevin for helping Lily but also strangle him because of his past. 

"Kevin?" 

"Um, hello do I know you?" Kevin stared at Jonas it sickened him that this man who was the cause for everything the root of his mother's death didn't even realize who he was talking to.

"I'm Jonas, Jonas Blake King." a smile was painted across Jonas's face he tried to hide it but the incident was to amusing. Kevin turned as white as a ghost and for a split second fear crossed his eyes.

"Nice to meet you I was a friend of your Dad, Blake King." Kevin lied though a fake smile hoping Jonas didn't know about what had happened.

"Yes nice to meet you too, but I think you were more Mom's type." If Kevin was going to play along with his cheesy friends with everyone lie Jonas was going to make him suffer. 

"Haha what a sense of humor you have Jonas! Just like your dad." Kevin let out the fakest laugh and slapped Jonas on the back hard. 

"Since you guys know each other so well could we bunk with you for the night?" Lily who had attached her leg back on gave Kevin a wide not fake smile.

"Sure of coarse what friend would I be if I said otherwise." it sounded like that sentence literally caused Kevin pain Jonas coughed out a laugh. Lily gave him one last smile and started up the block, Kevin grabbed Jonas's shoulder.

''Listen kid I'll house you, feed you, play along with whatever you're at but watch out because I did it once and I'll do it again. Your poor mom crossed the line look where she is now.'' Kevin's stale warm breath grazed Jonas's ear as he spoke calm, clear and slowly. Jonas kept a straight face even though fear was in every fiber of his body at that very moment he had to stay strong and face this twisted story in tiled his life. 

''Understood.'' Jonas closed his eyes not wanting to see the smirk on Kevin's face, not wanting to see what his his life had become but most of all not wanting to see his fate. Jonas let Kevin catch up to Lily he would stay in the back as far away from Kevin as possible. Lily deserved to know the truth behind the man who was walking beside her. 

It was a long walk but they eventually made it to Kevin's home. Jonas remembered this place but he didn't realize how far away it was from Annabel's when he came with her the ride felt so short but in reality she was far away, another reason to be afraid. The interior of the house was as orderly as the exterior. The colours used in the furniture and walls were plain whites and some light browns but the home itself seemed very plain. There was no pictures on the wall or anywhere for that matter a few small things were scattered here and there but nothing special. All in all the place was boring.

''What a lovely home you have!'' Lily gasped. Jonas rolled his eyes since Lily was probably just being polite. 

''Thank you, my wife she designed it before her... passing.'' Kevin rubbed his eyes as if he was crying Lily fell for the act. 

''Don't cry I'm so sorry for your loss.'' she spread her arm around Kevin's shoulder holding him comfortably. Jonas at first didn't care then some feeling bubbled up in him something he had never felt before. 

''Thank you. Excuse me where are my manners.'' again Kevin had another sudden change in emotions from sad widow to happy-go-lucky host.

''Hilly your room is upstairs first door on the right, Moses your room is the door on the end of the hallway.'' Kevin stared at the two teenagers smiling idiotically. Jonas tried to contain his laughter Lily on the other hand burst into a series of giggle fits. 

''Oh Kevin! Thank you for that mixing our names up I needed a laugh.'' Lily patted Kevin's shoulder and ran upstairs to her new room. After she was gone Jonas let out his share of laughs Kevin's face turned bright red right after.

''It's Lily and Jonas Kevin.'' Jonas said as he walked by Kevin laughing. Jonas stopped his laughter at the top of the stairs when he heard someone humming a familiar tune. At first he thought it was Lily but she was on the small balcony outside her room which really was Molly's room. But the song seemed to come from the end of the hallway. The voice was sweet and soft it almost felt like a gentle hand was stroking Jonas's ears. Then the humming turned to singing random beautiful sounds became angelic words.

Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock

When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall

And down will come baby, cradle and all

''Having troubleÉ'' Jonas turned on his heels to face Kevin smiling probably hoping Jonas was lost. 

''No just embracing the decor as Lily said you do have a lovely home.'' Jonas said trying to shake Kevin off his back.

''Ah yes Lily is a very sweet girl isn't sheÉ I'd like to get to know her more in fact I have become quite found of her.'' Kevin knew exactly what buttons to push just to make Jonas feel uncomfortable. Jonas was actually very uncomfortable with Kevin's statement he was sure Kevin just wanted to get to know his mother and look at her. He discarded his feelings since he hadn't eaten a proper meal and those strange nightmares had been coming around so often now so his stress was high. 

''She is a very nice girl.'' and with that Joans walked into his new room. The door at the end of the hall.
