Chapter 15 – Confrontations

Bradie’s P.O.V

I spun my head around to see a guy clapping loudly and slowly, his face pulled into a smile that was not the happy kind. Ruby seemed to have recognized him though,

“What are you doing here?” she whispered barely.

The guy stopped clapping and smirked, “What? Aren’t I allowed to wander around at night?” he replied taking a step forward. He was pretty tall with spiky brown-black hair and a nose piercing, he had slight stubble and a bumpy nose which meant he had probably broken it before.

“No I meant why are here clapping?” She spat at him, he tone harsh and angered and her eyes brimming with tears.

“Who’s this guy?” he ignored her question and motioned to me,

“I’m her girlfriend.” I told him slightly cautious “Who are you?” he laughed and I wondered if he was drunk.

“Joshua’s the name, what’s yours?” he replied as though we were mates, far from it.

I looked over to Ruby “Is he?...” Ruby nodded before quickly wiping away a tear, I snapped my head back to him “Bradie.” I told him through gritted teeth.

“Well Bradie, it was nice to meet you.” Joshua said before flashing a grin “How have you been Ruby?” he asked, Ruby stood up clenching her fists.

“How dare you.” She hissed at him and her reply was maniacal laughter from him,

“Just get over it Ruby, I did.” He was still smiling and I wanted nothing more than it punch it off his face.

“You dickhead! You ruined my fucking life and turned everyone against me and then all of sudden you just waltz here and act like nothing happened. You disgusting jerk, fuck you!” she screamed at him with tears pouring down her face, she was trembling from pure rage and I stood up wrapping my arms around her.

“Your stupid lesbian friend still stuck with you; if anyone’s disgusting it’s her.” He laughed harshly and stumbled a bit, he was definitely drunk.

I let go of Ruby and stormed up to him “Dear god do you ever shut up.” I growled before clenching my fist and swinging at him, I felt my knuckles collide with his cheekbone before he tripped backwards.

His hand went to his cheek as he cried out in pain but stood back up and glared at me,

“Fuck you man!” he yelled at me.

“Don’t you ever talk to Ruby again you sick bastard or you’ll have me to deal with.” I hissed at Joshua,

“Whatever dude, you’re fucking creepy.” He told me before stumbling off leaving behind a stench of beer.

I turned around to see Ruby collapsed on the ground with her face buried in her hands sobbing; I ran over to her and pulled her into a hug. “Hey, calm down. He’s gone.” I murmured softly as I cradled her in my arms, she hiccupped and buried her face into my shirt.

“T-thank you Bradie.” She whispered, he crying slowing down as we sat there in silence yet again.

What a great first date.
