"Hello, my name Martin. I am 13 and I am new in this school. I can't talk, please don't laugh at me for that," he wrote on the board. Everyone started to laugh anyway. He didn't seem to care.
I started to think deeply. Did he really not care? Or was he caring? He went back to his place. I decided to write him a letter.
Hello, I am Amy! Nice to meet you, Martin!
Hi! You might not believe me but I really can't talk.
Nor can I
I am happy that I am not alone. I also can neither laugh nor cry.
Me neither. Did something bad happen in your family?
Yes....but I don't want to talk about it.
In mine too. My mother died a month ago.
Well to be honest, the same thing happened to me. But it was two months ago.
I realised that I really wasn't alone. There was someone, someone with the same fate as I. I continued writing.
And did something else happen?
Why do you want to know so much? I mean I just know you for five minutes.
It's just...nevermind. Shall I tell you my story?
Yes, please.
Good. One month ago my mother died. Two weeks later I discovered that I was in possesion of some supernatural abilities, such as using elemental magic and talking to my dead mother. But the more I used it, the more my emotions started to fade. I remained emotionless and I can't talk.
O.o
What?
Same thing happened to me! Is that just a coincidence?
I don't know.
We should rather figure out how to break the curse, right?
Yes, let's do it! Together we will be stronger.
I felt stronger and braver now. Together we would do it. But sadly the teacher walked over to the back of the classroom. He glared at Martin. "Martin, did you listen?" He seemed to be shocked. I quickly took out another piece of paper and wrote something. Then I raised my hand. Sarah, who promised to help me, shouted out,"Sir, Amy needs something!" He walked over to me. I gave him the paper. He read it.
I'm sorry sir! Please don't blame Martin, it's all my fault. I was distracting him.
"Amy Josephson, once more and you land in the headmaster's office!" Then he went back to the blackboard again. I decided to pay attention and talk to Martin later. I didn't want to get in trouble. That was the thing I needed the least.
