*this chapter is supposed to clear any confusions you have regarding the other parallel universe and is narrated by the third person speaking. thank you*

Much to the contrary believe of many, there is an after life and an after after life.

Over a couple dozen million years ago, Earth's population hadn't even hit the one billion. And so, The Others didn't feel the need to interfere with the human life on Earth, they would let them be with the full knowledge that their fragile human body would eventually give out and they would die on their own. Back in the day, humans lived so much longer what with no one planning their deaths whatsoever. The Others will sit back, watch over them and carry on with their own lives.

But that was way before 1246, when a sudden increase in Earth's population made all The Others jolt out of their seats. It was not about if the Earth could support all those creatures; no. It was big enough. But the resources were decreasing rapidly and that could only mean one thing...

Humans will continue breeding excessively foolishly, unconcerned for the consequences when The Others were growing white hair by the second from all the sudden stress dropped on their shoulders. Less resources will mean more human death. More human death will mean more increase in The Others' population. Increase in The Others' population will mean decrease in the resources. And so, according to The Others' accurate calculations, homosapiens would extinct by 1534. Nobody wanted that.

The Others had to make a risk twice their size, but they were sure their universe could handle the people soon to arrive. They had to regain balance between the two universes.

That was when The Others first visited Earth in a really long time. They did not plan their death per individual. They did not have that much time. So they took a more effective, quick approach. More commonly known to humans as natural disasters. It took them three floods, five hurricanes, one earthquake and two tornadoes to regain the balance.

The parallel universe supported those who had arrived. And The Others settled down again, watching over the humans carefully, monitoring them, ready to jump at the slightest disorder in the system. Nothing happened until the 1800's, when Earth's population hit the one billion. They were confused and did not know what to do. One billion was not a big number, but it was sort of foreign. So they sat back.

In 1920, the population increases to two billion. Which means that after keeping the number of humans on Earth constant for so long, in merely one hundred-twenty years, a billion more people added up. Still, it wasn't threatening enough for them to visit Earth again. But they were slightly doubtful about their assumptions so the decided that it was better if humans don't live long lifetimes. And that was when Madeleine Rulph stepped forward and reminded her people of her previous suggestion. The Government agreed, it was a good idea.

When every Other turns sixteen, they shall visit the Earth, plan human death sooner and come back to resume their lives. This way was simpler and less time consuming.

Soon enough, Madeleine Rulph became The Government. She set the rules, organized lists for every Other and discovered an easier way of transportation to and from the Earth.

Her words, ''If one makes a mistake, we all make a mistake. If one fails, then failure falls upon us all. We were defined to do this, to accomplish it, to perfect it. ''
