A few weeks ago...
It was Evie's 17th birthday. Her party was probably the biggest in Auradon history, and considering that Ben's 6th birthday party involved a ten-story birthday cake, it's saying something. The party took place in the ballroom. All the decorations and food were blue.
When everyone welcomed her with a very huge Happy Birthday greeting, she screamed and squealed like she never did before. From the games to the food, Evie was having the time of her life.
After blowing out the eleven-story cake (Mal thought Evie wanted to top Ben's as the tallest cake in history), it was time for Evie to open her presents. While she did, one person was hiding in the shadows. Carlos De Vil.
He looked at the small gift box in his hand with a frown on his face. He was afraid she might not like it, so he was gonna wait until after the party to give it to her. To avoid suspicion and disappointment, Carlos gave Evie another gift box, which contained a new set of head phones for her phone. She wasn't too disappointed by it, at all.
After the party, Carlos asked Evie if they can talk alone outside.
"So, any reason you brought me here to the gardens?" asked Evie. "Not that the sight isn't beautiful. All the flowers are absolutely beautiful. It's just that you dragged me away from my after-party."
"Well, about the head phones... that wasn't my real gift to you," confessed Carlos.
"Huh?" Evie was confused.
Carlos removes his hand from behind his back and reveals a small gift box.
"Care to do the honors?" asked Carlos.
Evie unties the string, opening the gift. It was a little box. Carlos opens it. Evie gasped at what she found. It was a golden ring with a heart-shaped ruby.
"I know. You already have one heart-shaped ring," said Carlos, thinking Evie hated it. "I just thought that..."
Evie cuts off Carlos by hugging him real tight.
"No, silly. I love it," said Evie, smiling really wide.
"You do?" asked Carlos.
"I mean, look at it. The ruby is so pure and sparkly. The gold shines even in the dark," said Evie, inspecting the ring. "It's so much better than my mother's ring."
"May I?" asked Carlos.
"Of course," said Evie, holding her hand out.
Carlos takes Evie's hand and gently slips the ring on her finger. Evie hugs Carlos again. He happily returns the hug, glad that she loves his gift.
"Don't tell Doug, but out of all the presents, yours is the best," said Evie.
"Don't worry. I promise I won't tell," said Carlos.
"Are you sure?" asked Evie.
"I'm not crossing my fingers behind my back, am I?" replied Carlos.
While the two continue to talk about the ring, they are unaware that someone was watching them. Hiding her purple locks in the shadows, the daughter of Maleficent smirked as she watched them smile and laugh at each other.

Mal was currently watching Evie from the distance at the cafeteria. The blue-haired narcissist was currently looking at the gold ring on her finger, the one that Carlos gave to her for her birthday.
"Hey, E," greeted Mal, deciding to approach her best friend.
"Hey, M," greeted Evie.
"Still admiring Carlos' gift?" guessed Mal.
"Well, it is beautiful," said Evie.
"Like the man who gave it to you?" teased Mal.
"I prefer to use the term cute when describing him," said Evie.
Mal smiled at this.
"What?" asked Evie, noticing her friend's strange smile.
"I've seen so many kids her at Auradon Prep be close to one another, but you and Carlos still have the strongest bond in history," said Mal. "I know, because it's true."
"Well, he and I were the only true friends on the Isle," said Evie.
"Only?" questioned Mal.
"To be fair, you only accepted me in your gang. You never called me a friend," said Evie.
"Okay, fair point," said Mal.
"He's just thoughtful and adorable and loyal," said Evie. "Considering he's a dog lover, the word loyal is really saying something."
"I'm glad I chose the both of you to run the Isle rebuild duty," said Mal. "Not only will you two be making a difference, but you'll also get to hang out all the time."
"Thanks, Mal," said Evie, grateful.
Mal pulls for a friendly side hug, happy to please her. Evie returns the hug by putting her arm around her friend. She was so lucky to have a sister like Mal.

Meanwhile, on the shores of Auradon, Harry Hook, Gil, and their pirate crew meet up with the one who freed them from the Isle of the Lost. The daughter of Ursula, who's name is Uma.
"Finally, we are here," said Harry, sniffing the fresh air.
"I know. It definitely doesn't smell like garbage," said Gil, sniffing the air as well.
Harry bonks Gil in the head with his hook.
"Okay, that's enough," said Uma.
"So, what now, cap'n?" asked Harry.
"Now, we ride with the tide," said Uma, laughing evilly.
I'm sorry to tell you all this, but I'm gonna have to take a long break from this story. My reasons would be other stories, real life stuff, and "patience". I'll probably continue this story some time after Christmas.
