Raqz and Jake went to visit me and met my family straight from the airport. Raqz was very guilty when she learned that I was confined because of that little challenge she put us through. They stayed until the last visitation hours. VAN took interest in them, especially with Jake. I can say that she has a good taste in men.
What can I say? Like mother, like daughter!
She talked his ears out, talked with him about anything under the sun and bombarded him with questions after questions. He was very patient with her and I knew that he’s gonna be a good father to their twins.
I spent three days on that freaking hospital. Dumiretso kami sa bahay namin sa Alabang. Pinasimulan ko na kay Yaya Cedes at Lily ang pag-eempake ng mga gamit namin ni VAN kaya pagdating namin doon, nakahanda na kami sa aming pag-alis as soon as I feel well enough to move. Hindi pumayag sina Yaya Cedes at Lily na agad kaming lumipat hangga’t masama pa rin ang aking pakiramdam. Nagpatira ako ng konting gamit doon para may magagamit kami sa aming pagdalaw dito. Boxes were stacked on top of each other in the garage waiting for our departure.
Halos natulog lang ako maghapon at hinayaan lang nila ako dahil alam nilang nanghihina pa rin ako. Sa mga oras na gising naman ako, si Vaughn ang lagi kong namumulatan. Siya ang laging nakaagapay sa lahat ng aking pangangailangan. He was so sweet and caring. He was always on my beck and call... like my personal servant.
When I was well enough after two days, I made an appointment with my OB and went there immediately after lunch. VAN tagged along, feeling like a clingy koala bear that she saw on the television. Unfortunately, she and Riel watched this documentary about the koala bears where the baby koala clung to its mother wherever she may go.
You know what they say... Monkey see... monkey do!
When we arrived at Dra. Velasco’s clinic, her secretary welcomed us warmly.
“Hi, Mrs. Finnel! Good afternoon po! Dr. Velasco has been waiting for you. You can go in whenever you are ready,” magiliw na bati ng sekretarya ni doc.
“Oh, okay! Can my little koala bear come with me?” sabay turo kay VAN na nakakapit pa rin sa laylayan ng damit ko.
“It’s quite alright Ma’am,” sagot naman niya. Then she let us through the door where we met my enthusiastic doctor.
“Hi Cathe! Good afternoon!” masayang bati ni doc.
“Hi doc! Ito nga pala ang anak ko, si VAN. VAN, this is my doctor, Dra. Velasco. Please say ‘hello’ sweetie.”
“Hello po!” she said meekly still clutching the hem of my dress.
Si VAN meek? Kailan pa? Ahaha! Ngayon lang siguro iyan...
“Well, hello dear! Good afternoon to both of you! Ang ganda mo naman, VAN. You look like your mommy, so pretty,” pagpuri niya sa anak ko. “Please take a seat,” she said and we took our seats.
“VAN, pwede bang i-partner kita sa anak ko?” excited na tanong niya pagkaupo namin.
“I-partner po? Para saan po?” takang tanong ni VAN.
“What I mean is, I like you for my son. I’m sure you’ll be a cute couple when you grow up,” she said dreamily.
Natawa naman ako sa sinabi niya. Napatingin na lang ako kay VAN at napailing. She looked appalled with what she said.
“Oh, I’m sorry po! But thank you for your offer,” magalang na pagtanggi niya sabay iling.
I’m still basking with this change in her. Magalang siya ngayon, better grab this opportunity, minsan lang ito.
