A lost soul...that's what the orphanage called them. Kids nobody wanted.
That's all that I am now, someone no body wants to claim. My name is Star.
Named for the light my parents said I brought into their lives. That was before the house fire that killed both my parents.

I was sent here when I was only fourteen, that was three and half years ago.

I was in the front yard watching the younger kids play, when a guy we called the dirty man pulled up.

My stomach dropped, I knew it was my turn to go.

The dirty man showed up every few months and picked himself out a girl or boy, anyone close to their eighteenth birthday was lined up for him to choose from. You had to be close to eighteen, that way no one asked any questions when you just disappeared from the orphanage.

We were sold like a piece of meat.
I was the last one close enough to my birthday, so I knew my time was coming. I had tried to get out, but there was no where to run. The orphanage set in the middle of nowhere, and open land surround us on every side for miles, so there was nowhere to go.

Then owner of the orphanage aprroched me. Bending down, he grabbed me by my hair, pulling me to my feet.He shoved me at the other man.

"This is the only one available right now." He said laughing, "So it will cost you a extra hundred."

"Fine." The other man grumbled, reluctantly handing over the money. "I been waiting for this one anyway." he said looking me over.

The next thing I knew, I was in the front seat of his car driving away from the orphanage.

Staring out the window. I paid close attention to where we were going, hoping that maybe he'd stop somewhere, a I could run for it.

Then the dirty man pointed to the floor board. "There's a soda and sandwich for you." he said smiling.
A small shiver of fear ran down my spine, but my stomach grummbled loudly, reminding me I hadn't eaten yet. Smiling at me again, he said go ahead, then he continued to talk. "I'm so happy I could finally get you out of there. You seem way to sweet to be stuck in a place like that. I think your going to be happier in your new home."

"I run a half way house for teens." he said. "Me and my wife help teens start a new life." He looked at me, "We heard about the orphanage selling kids a few years back, so me and my wife decided to help as many of you kids as we could." The more he talked more at ease I felt. Finally giving in to the hunger I felt, I reached down and picked up the sandwich.

"Thank you." I said while quietly unwrapping the ham and cheese sandwich. With in a minute I had eaten the whole thing, and feeling full, I set back and closed my eyes.

* * *

My head hurt and I was really cold as I tried to force my eyes open. My head slowly started to clear and I became aware of the fact that I was no longer wearing any cloths. I could feel metal against my bare skin. I tried to force my myself into a setting position, only to realize I was tied down. Fear finally forced my eyes open as I fought against the bounds holding me down.

"Struggle all you want." My eyes focused in the dirty man standing next to the table I was tied to.
"You are all the same..." he laughs down at me. "No matter what line of bull shit I feed you. You believe it."
He reached, out running his hand down my bare leg. "This is going to be so much fun." He said. "I've been waiting a long time to get you on my table.
The damn orphanage wouldn't let me have you until you were old enough.

I closed my eyes and started to scream at the top of my lungs.. a hard slap across my face had me opening my eyes, glaring at the sick bastard.
Turning from me he grabbed a hammer off a table behind him.

"No screaming unless I cause it." he said glaring down at me. Before I could brace myself, he smashed the hammer down on my knee caps, and then my right shoulder. The pain seemed to be everywhere, and through the pain I could hear my own screams filling the room...along with his laughter. Then for what seemed like meer seconds, there was him. I could hear him screaming.. feel the rage rushing through him. I could feel him reaching for me. Then my world went dark. As I begged for the pain to stop and I begged him to help me......
