I opened my eyes letting my head roll to one side. The pain seemed to be everywhere.
But thankfully I was alone. Still tied down to a table, I turned my head to look at the rest of the small room I was in. There was what looked like a work bench running the length of the whole wall. My stomach began to turn as my eyes focused in on a jar, it was full of human fingers. The whole bench was cluttered with jars. Then my eyes zeroed in on a pile of hair.My hair. He had cut off all of my hair while I was passed out. Fear took hold as I fought against the restraints. I need to get out.
But the harder I fought the tighter the ropes bit into my flesh. Feeling defeated I stilled.
It was clear that I wasn't leaving here. I thought back to my old house, to my parents before they died. The last time I had truly felt safe.
Tears ran down my face. Maybe after this was over and I was dead I would be with them again.Jason sat for what seemed like a eternity not seeing anything around him. Reaching for her with his mind, trying to reconnect.
Then there she was. Her pain and fear washed over him in waves. Trying to push the pain from his mind he reached out and grabbed his brothers hands. Then he flashed. The three found themselves standing in a front yard of a vacant house. Without speaking they ran into the house, breaking down the door. It was clear no one had been inside for years. They split up going from room to room. Jason's fear grew as he entered the last room on the second floor. She wasn't here. "Other than a few burned out rooms downstairs there's nothing," John said as he and Jared followed. "Why are we here?" John asked. "What made you flash us here?"
"I don't understand!" Jason said punching a wall. "Why would our connection bring me here, when clearly she's not here."Jared looked around the faded pink room.
Little butterflies dotted the ceiling. A little girls room. Jason punched the wall again. He could still feel her pain but the connection was weak.
Jared turn to John."This was a little girls room."
John instantly caught on to Jared's train of thought."This was her room."
"That's what I'm thinking."
"What the hell are you two going on about?"
"She grew up here," Jared said. "That's why your connection brought you here. This is the last place she felt safe, her home."
John pulled out his cellphone.Calling headquarters he gave the Intelligence
Team the address on the house.
Two minutes later John hung up the phone and turned to the other two men. "This house belonged to a family by the name of Windsor. They died in a house fire a few years back and according to records they left behind a daughter named Star. She was sent to an orphanage a few states over.
Intelligence is trying to find a photo now."Jason cursed his powers. Without having a mental picture of where they want to go they couldn't just flash there.
Sitting down on what use to be her bedroom floor Jason once again reached for her with his mind.
