Chapter 5: The Dragon Effect

       After what seemed like almost eighteen hours of driving, we were finally in New York City. Unlike the other cities, New York actually had living people with buildings that haven't been totally and utterly destroyed by war. It was kind of nice. Military guards, mixed with Americans, Russians, Japanese, and many other races walked the streets, keeping the peace. I guess those were the ones who defended the city. I only sighed, keeping my hands on the wheel as I drove through the streets. So this is one of the last safe havens for America? I thought to myself. I'll admit, I knew nothing about Earth. Not even enough to get around, however, I still gotta try, right? I glanced over at the clock to see it was three-thirty in the afternoon, then I glanced over at Sarah, who was just staring out at the window. I only sighed softly as I kept driving...until I heard Sarah scream. "Leon! Get out!" The next thing I knew, I was spiraling into the wall, my head smacking into the concrete. Don't ask how I survived...because I don't even know. The only thing I could make out, was people screaming, and gunshots going off. My vision was blurry, but I could see good enough to know what was going on. What I saw...made my heart skip a beat. It was a human figure...but it didn't look human at all. It had pure black eyes, with black veins showing all throughout it's body. Right now...there were a good handful...maybe about twenty of these things in the city. "Leon!" Sarah screamed out. "Summon Excalibur!" Sarah screamed in desperation. Then it hit me...these things...were the Souless. Before I knew it, one of the Souless grabbed my throat...it's black eyes staring into mine. "De...stroy..." That is what the being said...but I could've sworn I heard something else. I could've sworn I heard something say free me. Before I could react, however, everything went black.

       Sarah stared at the Souless who held Leon's throat with widened eyes. She watched as the Souless prepared to kill Leon...but before she knew it, everything changed. Leon's eyes snapped open, but they weren't bright blue, they were golden. His iris were golden. Leon reached up and grabbed the Souless's wrist, as dark energy exploded from Leon's body. It was a power that Sarah knew all to well about. The Black Dragon... Sarah thought as she stared at Leon with widened eyes. "Perish..." Leon said to the Souless in a demonic like voice...then Leon's own hand impaled the Souless's chest...and sent an energy blast throughout it's body, making the Souless implode. Sarah's eyes widened even larger. He...killed a Souless without an Enchanted Weapon...?! Sarah thought in shock. Leon turned to his left, towards the entrance of the gates in the city...towards where another Souless could be seen, holding a small child up. The child was a young female, maybe between the ages of ten or eleven, she held a stuffed rabbit at the edge of her hand, as she wore a purple and white dress. She had bright blonde hair, and dark green eyes, but she was barefoot. The little girl was currently struggling to breathe. Leon lashed out at the Souless with incredible speed, he was almost a blur. For Sarah, it was like Leon disappeared, and reappeared behind the Souless. Leon then grabbed the Souless's shoulder and threw it towards a building, then caught the little girl in his arms as she coughed mercilessly, gasping for air. Leon slowly, but gently laid the girl down, then he stood up straight and glared at the Souless. "I'll send you straight back to the Void..." Leon told the Souless...which only confused Sarah. How did Leon know about the Void, when he originally knew nothing about the world or even himself. Leon then dashed for the Souless....and when he got a hold of it, he grabbed the Souless with his blood stained hand...and ripped the Souless in half, sending blood and intestines everywhere. Leon only roared out...a roar that belonged to a dragon's as a victory scream. Sarah couldn't believe it. Leon destroyed two Souless in just one attack, without using any magic either. Leon...just what are you...?! Sarah thought to herself. It was very clear that Leon was beyond a normal being.

      Xeno was cutting down Souless left and right with his blade, Lancelot, until he heard a dragon's roar, which froze him into place, his own eyes widening. What in the... Xeno thought to himself. Souless were invading New York City, then he shook his head and cut a Souless down, standing in his way. He ran towards the entrance of city...to see a shocking state. He saw Sarah Ikaros, however, he also saw a boy...who had golden eyes and dark energy flowing through his body. The strangest thing then happened. The Souless were retreating out of the city...all because of the dragon like roars coming from the boy. "The Black Dragon..." Xeno muttered under his breath, but then it hit him. This must be the boy Merlin was telling me about...! Xeno thought. The dark energy surrounding the boy finally vanished, and he fell to his knees as the boy's eyes went from golden, to bright blue. Merlin was right...the boy did have terrifying power...and this...was only just the beginning. 

-Deep within the Abyss, unknown time, Wedsnday afternoon- 

      Kira was sitting in his chambers, deep within the castle, watching everything go on in Sarah's eyes. "And so it begins..." Kira said to himself. It was nearly impossible to tell what Kira was up to. Kira sighed to himself, then called out, his voice booming through the Abyss. "Paradox!" Seconds later, a black cloud surrounded the ground in front Kira, and a Souless appeared out of the cloud...but not any ordinary Souless. This Souless was bald, he had black veins all over his body, but he held grey eyes, and he had angel wings as well. "Yes my lord?" The half naked man asked. Kira looked at the male only known as Paradox, then he pointed towards the portal like cloud and then spoke. "Do something about the boy." Kira ordered. Paradox looked towards the clouds, then back at Kira...and slowly nodded. Then he disappeared within the black clouds.
