They ran through the streets, with Barry in the lead, so happy. Once they arrived they got in line. Both happy just to be in each other's company. "This place has the best burgers ever. Trust me you will want to stay on this earth forever once you have them." Barry joked breaking the silence.
"Oh yeah? Well I we'll see about that, hopefully in this century." Kara replied gesturing to the long line ahead of them. Barry nodded in agreement and sighed. He glanced at his watch suddenly his face light up. Kara looked up at him and noticed "Oh Rao, that's an idea face. What are you gonna do?" She questioned.
He looked at her and just said; "I got this." Before Kara could say anything else a gust of wind blew through the restaurant and just as quickly he had left her side, he was back with a grin across his face. Kara looked at him in confusion but then as she looked at the line she saw everyone ahead of them had a bag of food and a drink in their hand.
"You're impossible" she smiled and rolled her eyes at him. Barry just chuckled in reply and watched as everyone looked at around in confusion but then decided to just go with the strange occurrence and move on. They stepped out of line and went on to whatever else they had that day. Barry and Kara went up to the counter and ordered their food, from the very stunned employee, and sat down.
"So how bad was it?" Kara asked him once they sat down. "Like when you went in this morning ." She explained when he looked at her in confusion.
"Oh, that. Well, Singh was pissed and gave me a ton of paperwork and some tests to run." Barry said as he ate his fries.
"And Joe?" She questioned. "How was he? I know he was probably pissed at you." She added.
"Yeah he was but he was more pissed about Iris." Once Barry realized what he'd just said he added "But he was ok it wasn't that bad."
"Oh so I'm guessing Iris talked to him about last night?" Kara asked nervously.
"Yeah but i'll talk to them later and clear things up. It's not a big deal" Barry replied attempting to keep Kara from worrying. Kara just nodded and smiled. "Anyway I was wondering, not that it isn't amazing to have you here," Barry laughed as Kara blushed "how long can you stay?" Kara thought for a moment.
"Honestly I hadn't really thought about it. At least a week. I mean we aren't fighting anyone major right now. With Alex, J'ohn, James and the rest of the DEO I think they'll be fine." Kara said "What do have going on right now?" She asked as she took a bite of the burger.
"Not much. We defeated Savitar so it's been pretty dead. All we have had to deal with is like robbers and that kinda stuff, which admittedly Wally and sometimes Cisco have been dealing with." Barry said with a small smile. "So how's the Burger?" He asked with a smile.
"Life changing." Kara said nodding "In fact it might even be better than breakfast." She added with a smirk happily taking a sip of her soda.
Barry gasped in mock offence and put his hand on his chest "What? Now that's crossing a line!" He said pointing a finger at her. They both managed to keep their up stare off for about ten seconds before breaking into laughter. Successfully gaining questioning and adoring looks from the other people around.
"This is nice." Kara said once they finished laughing.
"What do you mean?" Barry asked.
"This, us, well not us,us. Not that there is no us. Well there's is, just not that kind. I didn't mean like-" Kara rambled blushing more as she continued hoping he would stop her.
"Now I know how Oliver feels." Barry said reaching across the table to put his hand on Kara's to stop the downward spiral of rambling she had started. Kara smiled as she looked at their hands. Placing her other one and taking a breath.
"I just mean it's nice to be here with you. Just having a meal like normal people in a resturant with no metas or aliens attacking."She said.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. Plus I don't remember the last time I've actually eaten in Big Belly Burger."
"Why?" Kara asked.
"Well usually when we get it we end up eating it in the cortex while we stress eat about whatever enemy we're fighting." Barry explained.
"Yeah, and it's nice that when I'm with you I can talk to about everything, hero and human."
"To be honest this is like the first meal I've had with someone since Savitar that I could talk about everything I wanted." Barry agreed. "With you everything just seems-"
"Easier?"Kara suggested their eyes meeting.
"Yeah." Barry said "Easier." They smiled at each other neither wanting the moment to end. Finally they broke eye contact and and Barry cleared his throat and took a sip of his drink while Kara ate the last of her burger. After she finished she drank her soda. "You ready to go" Barry asked.
"Yeah, what's you're plan for the rest of the day?" Kara asked him, picking up her tray and drink "cause mine pretty much consists of binge watching more Netflix all day."
"Well I was gonna go back to the lab and finish up with my last test of what's either feces or dirt," Kara made a face causing Barry to laugh a little. They threw away their trash and left the restaurant. They started walking down the sidewalk as Barry continued; "once that's done I was going to go clear the air with Iris and Joe at his place." He paused before adding " I'll be home for dinner though."
"Ok well, good luck, and please let me know how it goes with Iris and Joe." Kara said. Barry just nodded.
"I don't know what you want for dinner though. I could pick something up for dinner on my way home. There's this Chinese place that has amazing pot stickers or I could get-" Barry stopped as Kara's face lit up, he laughed. "Pot stickers it is then!"He declared she laughed, blushing as she realized how excited she'd appeared.
"Sorry, they're just my favorite." She said, he just smiled at her. "So are you gonna walk me home or do you need to go back?" She asked.
"I'll do you one better" he said picking her up. She laughed as he ran them through the streets of the city. They arrived back at his apartment and he let her down to open the door. She walked in and turned around.
"You know one of these days I'm gonna need to take you flying. You don't know what you're missing Scarlet Speedster." She said leaning against the door.
"You got a deal Girl of Steel." Barry agreed with a nod. "So what, no tip?"he questioned as he held out his hand.
"I'll do you one better." She said. Before Barry could say another word Kara put her hand in his and leaned forward placing a light kiss on his cheek. They both were blushing profusely once she pulled away. Grins spreading across both faces.
"I'll be home at like six." Barry said in a daze.
"See ya then." Kara said watching as he turned around and ran off heading back to the precinct. Kara closed the door and went back to the couch to continue her show. Both of them completely happy.
