Evie's P.O.V -
I see Paige standing by the side of the road and pull over.
She climbs in the passenger side and I see that her face is streaked with tears.
"What's going on?" I ask. I start to drive back home.
"You're not going to believe me."
"Paige, of course I'll believe you. What's happened?"
"Okay... Well, you know that Matt and I are- were dating, right?"
"Yeah. Why's it now 'were'?"
"Matt hasn't changed a bit. I was an idiot for believing anything he said. He's been cheating on me this whole time."
"Oh, Paige. I'm so sorry."
I can't believe it... Actually, no, I can. Matt has always been an asshole. He managed to fool everyone into thinking he'd changed. That is so like him.
"I just feel so stupid."
"You're not stupid. I believed him too. He was so convincing."
"Fuck him."
"Do you want to stay with Flynn and I for a while?"
"No, I can stay with my mom. She told me from the start that she didn't trust Matt. She was right."
"Mums always know best."
Paige gives me a pitying look.
"Yeah, they do."
Silence.
"Ahem, so do you want me to drive you to your mum's then?"
"Uh, yeah, thanks. It's just round this corner."
I drop Paige off and she thanks me profusely. I tell her not to worry about it and drive off.
Now I'm alone with my thoughts.
