Evelyn's P.O.V -
"Have you got everything? Lunch money? Your books?" Mum fusses as she hands me a coat.
"Mum, you don't need to worry. It's just another school."
"I know, I know. I just want you to be happy."
"Why did we have to move here? I liked it in England," I moan.
"I met your father here. It's a good school. Your aunt and uncle and cousin all live here. It just makes sense, sweet pea."
God, I hate that nickname. Why does she call me 'sweet pea'? It doesn't even make sense.
"Okay, I'll play nice," I say for her benefit.
"Good girl. I knew you would. Love you, sweet pea."
"Love you too, Mum."
I get out of the car and close the door gently behind me. Here we go. Brand new country, brand new school. Time to own it.
