I listened to my mom's heels click. She was wearing a tan trench coat with a brown scarf and a pair of denim jeans. We were walking to the city hall with Haley and josiah.
"Emma, stay right there," Mom said to me when we were walking. "you know very well the city Chicago is very busy!"
"Sorry Mommy." I said innocently.
Josiah sighed while tiredly walking. Then he said,"Why are going here again?"
Mom was annoyed and said,"Because Dad has work and we don't have time to hire a nanny or a babysitter, or anyone like that, so you have to come here for my meeting in the office. But you kids can come because there is a little activity room for kids. Kids can't interfere with job meetings, so you can't come with me there."
We nodded and continued walking more. We were already on the grounds of the city hall. Phew! That was when my moms ex co worker/ best friend was walking right ahead of us.
"Audrey!" Mom exclaimed and hugged her.
"Linda!!" Audrey exclaimed, squeezing her.
When they stopped hugging, finally, Mom said,"Oh my gosh, Audrey. I did not expect to see you here! What are you doing here, anyway?"
Audrey chuckled and said,"I'm just one of the managers, I got a new job, remember? This is it, Linda! Now may I ask why you and your cute kiddies are you here?"
"First of all, I'm surprised this is your new job!" Mom exclaimed. "I'm actually coming here for a meeting! This means that we'll see each other more?"
Audrey chuckled once again and said,"Well I was just walking out, Linda."
Mom said,"Yeah well I guess we'll have to capture you next time! Bye bye!"
Audrey laughed and said,"Hey Emma! Give me a high five, girl!"
I giggled and slapped her hand gently.
"Woah! Awesome, Em!" Audrey exclaimed. "Haley, how hard can you high five me?"
Haley smiled and slapped her hand as hard as she can, which means harder than me.
"Girl, you have some super powers!" Audrey said. "bet you can't hit me harder, Josiah!"
Josiah said,"I bet I can high five you a lot harder!"
"Oh yeah?" said Audrey.
Josiah slapped Audrey's hand with all his might.
"Okay that was probably harder, but now my hand is red!" Audrey said, laughing. "now how old are you Josiah?"
Josiah said,"I'm already eleven!"
"Wonderful, you Emma?" Audrey said.
"I'm six now."
"You guys are so old now!" Audrey exclaimed surprised. "Haley, I'm guessing you're...nine now?"
"Yes indeed, Audrey!" Haley replied happy.
"Alright big girls and boy!" Audrey said, laughing. "it's time I have to go now!"
Mom smiled and said bye to Audrey one last time and then she went to her to car to leave.
"Alright, guys, I'm running late now!" Mom said rushing us. "Let's go! Run!"
We laughed while running into the city hall, we had a great time. Then Mom scanned her id to the scanner thing to get in.
"Wow, that's cool!" I exclaimed, admiring her actions.
Mom slightly chuckled and then we walked into the city hall.
"Come on, guys." she said.
She first dropped us off into this small room with a few other little kids.
"Hello!" an old lady greeted us, rocking on the rocking chair.
"Oh, hello!" Mom said. "I'm in a rush, so I can't really fill out any papers. I have a meeting and I'm running late, so just please watch them well, ma'am!"
The old lady said,"Uh, okay!"
Mom super sped walked down the hall.
"I am Miss Adkins!" the old lady said. "we're gonna have so much fun doing activities together today! What are your guys' names?"
"I'm Vickie!" a little girl with colorful heads in her said.
"Oh, Vickie. It's nice if you go tell them your name but I wasn't asking you, I was asking them!" Miss Adkins laughed.
"I'm Emma and I'm six years old!" I exclaimed. "I do gymnastics and dance!"
Miss Adkins chuckled and croaked,"Now that is a little too much for me!"
I laughed. Then Haley said,"I am Haley and I do dance!"
"Excellent!" Miss Adkins grinned. "now what about you, young fellow in the back?"
He looked up and said,"Oh, me? I'm Josiah and I'm eleven. I do football, by the way I'm pro at it."
Miss Adkins chuckled and said,"You are old. What do you say about me reading a story to you all?"
"Yes!" we all shouted except for Josiah. He doesn't exactly like books.
"Alright then! It is a fairytale," Miss Adkins said. "be pleased, Josiah."
Miss Adkins chuckled. I think Josiah was a little annoyed. He has gotta be!
"Wonderful story, eh?" she said and closed the book. "now we shall work on some coloring. Here is a coloring page! And Josiah, you can play with legos, fine."
She passed out a coloring page for us to work on. Then she put two containers of crayons on the center of the table.
When I finished my work of art, I showed Miss Adkins. She said I did a wonderful job. I thanked her. When Mom's meeting was done, she came to this room to pick us up.
"We did multiple activities today!" said Miss Adkins.
Mom smiled and then said,"Let's go guys!"
We followed her out the city hall.
"Mom I had so much fun!"
