I was trying to go asleep on the sofa in the living room, but all I could hear is my parents arguing about my schooling, in the kitchen.
"Do you remember how much she suffered in first grade last year?" Mom shouted. "I can teach her right! God, Andrew! I thought you would at least have some faith in me! She does ballet and dance! Do you understand how hard public school will be for her? It will be too overwhelming and no, she is not quitting either one!"
I like how my mom stands up for me. I will never quit gymnastics or dance! I love both of them equally and that won't change!
"I understand that, Cheryl, but she won't get to meet other kids in public schools." Dad replied calmly.
"Oh my god Andrew!" exclaimed Mom annoyed. "She knows plenty of kids from gymnastics! Give her a break. Plus I do have a degree in teaching, although I don't even need a degree in it to teach her. There's even schooling online so that I don't need to teach her! Trust me, Andrew, it will be a lot better and safer for her."
There was silence for a moment so I could tell that my dad was reconsidering. I was happy that my mom was a very convincing woman, or else... I wouldn't have been able to do some things that I love.
At that moment, I decided to discuss this also with my parents now to get it over with already. I know that we will discuss this soon or later, so it's better to do it now.
I hopped off the couch and walked to the kitchen. I sat on the stool next to Dad and they both gazed at me, until I broke the silence.
"I want to be homeschooled, Dad," I said, looking up at him. "I think Mom's right."
Mom grinned at me, then smirked at Dad. "I told you she'd like it better!"
Dad sighed and finally made up his mind. "Oh, alright! You win, Cheryl."
I smiled happily at Mom and said,"When will we start school?"
She sighed, shrugged and said,"I haven't exactly thought about the schedule yet, honey. I wasn't sure we were actually going to be homeschooling until now."
I nodded understanding. Then she said,"You should continue resting now, Emmy sweetheart."
"Okay then," I said, looking down. "I haven't been able to sleep because of your arguments..."
"Oh, it's not my fault that your dad wouldn't—"
Dad interrupted Mom's statement and said,"Let's not play the blame game now, Cheryl! Sorry that your mom can be very immature, go sleep now. Ignore us if we argue."
Mom frowned at Dad as I walked away. I heard murmuring about what Dad had said time about Mom. But then everything was black and silent. I drifted off to a wonderful cat nap.
