It was the day for our level 4 meet. I was super excited cause I knew I would do well, but nervous cause I don't know.
"Moooooommy!" I screamed on top of her. She was still asleep.
"Oh my god, Emma!" she shouted madly at me.
"Mommy, it's almost time for the meet!" I said.
"Oh, oh, I'm so sorry, baby, get ready!" sHe said pointing at the door.
"Ok." I said and ran to my room.
I got out our level four leotard, a slashed burgundy and striped gold glitter one. Probably my favorite of all levels! After that my mom put my hair in the right braided bun.
Then we were driving to the gym after eating breakfast of orange juice, a pear, egg, and bacon.
"I'm so tired, why do we even have to go, Mom?" moaned Josiah complaintfully.
"Oh, stop that attitude, Josiah, you have to cheer your little sister on!" My mom exclaimed.
Haley and I were quiet the whole ride. Finally we arrived there. I ran to my class to start conditioning.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so excited!" Amiyrah said to me, while doing hops to handstands all the way across the floor.
"Me too!" I said.
"I'm scared." Julie said.
"Oh, you'll do fine, bestie!" I said to her to make her feel relieved.
Soon we were done conditioning. I was watching Bree do bars, while cheering her on. She did so well and mastered all the skills she wasn't that great at before!
"Good job, Bree!" I exclaimed when she finished all her events. "You did so good!"
"Thanks!" she said.
"And now we have Emma June!"
"Oh, that's me!" I said, nervously walking up to the floor, my first event.
"Good luck!" said Bree to me.
My floor music started to play. I saluted and danced around a little bit, then did a high straddle jump. Then I prepared and ran into my tumbling pass—a round off back handspring back handspring. I felt like my form wasn't good. My legs were only together were the last back handspring! I picked a wedgie without knowing, accidentally, deduction right there! Then I did a twirl and danced a little and ran into a nice front handspring, not sticking it very well, but landed it and saluted. Then I did a back walkover to back extension roll. I pushed for the roll. And I danced a little and saluted, and was done! Phew.
"Good job, girl!" said Shay to me.
"Thanks, I think I did bad though." I replied.
It was time for bars. I was extremely scared, my hands were getting sweaty so I quickly put the chalk on my hands and then saluted. I jumped onto the bars. To gain power and strength, I jumped up and was at the top of the bar. Then I did a long hang kip, what I was most bad at. And a back hip circle, the easiest skill in level 4 in my opinion. Then I did a glide kip, legs together and toes pointed. To end my routine, I did a squat on, to get off the bar and saluted.
As soon as I went to my friends they reminded me something.
"Uh, you forgot your cast to horizontal..." Julie said to me.
I thought about that for a moment and when I realized I almost cried. "Nooooo! I'm so dumb! I can't believe it!"
"It's okay, it's okay!" Amiyrah said, hugging me.
Then it was time for vault. I was so scared for this. I was still not perfect at the front hand springs on vault. I've only done one perfect front handspring. I prayed for a second, saluted, and ran with all the power and might I could. Then I bounced onto the bench into a front handspring with legs straight, together, and toes pointed. I also stuck it perfectly! I did the best front handspring I've ever done!
"You did amazing, Emma!" Katie told me, high fiving me.
I actually was so proud of myself! Now for my last event, beam.
I mounted onto the beam and stood up balancing perfectly, and saluting. Then I did a four second handstand with straight legs and pointed toes! Saluted, then I ran into a split leap and made sure I had perfect form, and I did. And before I did my cartwheel, the skill I was most scared to do, but confident cause I usually always do perfect cartwheels on beam, I put my left leg up with toes pointed, and went into a slow and straight cartwheel, slowly turning into a handstand and legs going across to the beam, ending in a lunge stand. I perfected the cartwheel! No surprise. Then I danced around and did a split jump, almost stuck it, and ended with my cartwheel-to-side-handstand and saluted onto the floor. I did good! Perfect!
"You did sooooo good, girl!" Paige told me.
"Thanks!"
After it was done we checked the scores. I got a 9.1 in floor, 8.7 in bars, 10 in vault, and 9.7 in beam!! I was proud except for floor and bars. I did fine in floor, but terrible in bars! Uggghh. AA was 37.5! That was actually good!
"Third place overall goes to...Mackenzie Lorel with a 36.49!" the person said.
Everyone clapped and then..."Second place goes to... Emma Shills with a. 37.5!"
I gasped and smiled, running there. "Good job!" she said and wrapped the "second place" silver medal on me, and I proudly walked onto the second place thing you stand on. I don't know what it's called.
