Emma's Gymnastics Story

Just a Regular Day!

"Elis, can I borrow that red crayon?" I asked her, leaning over her desk.

She held up a red crayon and said,"This?"

I nodded.

"No way Emma," she said to me. "this is my favorite crayon!"

I pouted and crossed my arms.

"Girls?" Mrs. Cott said. "did I just see you talking?"

"I was just asking for a crayon." I said innocently.

She raised her eyebrows and looked at Ellis.

"Is that right, Ellis?" she asked.

She nodded.

"Then why did Emma look mad?" she said.

"She wouldn't let me use her crayon!" I exclaimed.

She glanced at Ellis.

"Time out, Elli." Mrs. Cott said.

Ellis madly looked at me.

"But Mrs. Cott you don't need to do that!" I exclaimed upset.

"Don't be sad, it's not your fault, sweetie." she replied and went back to her desk.

I turned around to look at Ellis. She was crying on the time out seat, I felt really bad for telling the truth.

"What does this sentence say?" Mrs. Cott pointed at a sentence on the board and looked at us. "Jamie?"

Jamie ruffled her short dirty blonde hair and looked up from her paper.

"Umm," she hesitated. "Andy. Walked. To. The park...umm..she played the saxophone?"

"Good!" the teacher exclaimed. "sax-o-phone-. How many syllables is that?"

We all thought about it then me and a few other people in my class raised their hands.

"Emma?" she called on me.

"Umm, three?" I said unsure.

"Yes!" she exclaimed. "good job, Emma, you get a sticker!"

I smiled and she put a yellow smiley face sticker on my shirt.

"Ellis, you're good to go back to you're seat," Mrs. Cott said. "and you can get into a group of no more than two people to make a drawing of the theme of animals!"

"Yay!" I said.

I partnered up with Morgan. We got a piece of big white paper and drew bears,birds, bunnies, dogs, and much more.

I had gymnastics practice. This time my mom dropped me off. I kissed her bye after she walked me in the gym. When I went into the locker room, it was just Bree, Molly, Brenda, Amiyrah, and Sadie that were here.

"Hey Emma!" they said.

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed happily.

Bree and Amiyrah went to me and gossiped about how Katie, our coach, her little brother broke his arm.

"How do you know that?" I said as I tightened my hair, pulling my scrunchie up higher in my hair.

"Because we were talking to her." Amiyrah answered.

I nodded and then put my gym bag in the locker.

"Hurry up guys, more people are coming!" Katie called to us.

We three together walked into the main gym. We did a back handspring challenge, then Amber and Loren joined us.

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed to them. "we're doing a challenge seeing how many back handsprings we can do in thirty seconds! Wanna play?"

They exchanged happy glances and then nodded.

"Game on!" I said, hitting the timer on my watch.

First Amber went cause she won the Rock Paper Scissors shoot game. When there were fifteen seconds left, she had already done nine. When the timer buzzed, she did fifteen back handsprings. Next I went. Amber timed me and the rest of the people in my entire team watched me, we were playing as a whole team--not just us. I had already done fourteen back handsprings when there were 7 seconds left, I fit in three more. So I did seventeen back handsprings! After everyone went, she told us to sit in a circle.

"Do your butterflies!" Katie said in a butterfly. We did our butterflies. "Now tell me we're you are traveling in a circle in order! Go fast!"

We all smiled and rubbed our hands together excitingly.

"The beach!"
"Paris!"
"Umm New York City."
"The skating place!"
"A fast food place beca-"
"Paris."
"I want to go to the pool!"
"NORTH POLE WITH SANTA CLAUS!"
"Africa!"
"A restaurant."
"My friends house."
"Ummmmmm New Orleans!"
"Heaven."
"My house."
"Italy."

"You guys took twenty seven seconds! Not that bad as I thought you'd do!"
