Chapter Eight -Story of a Survivor
"I was born on the planet Alderaan and grew up there with my family. It was no secret that my birthparents died in a Separatist invasion and I got adopted. I was happy, my foster parents were the very best." He glanced on Obi-Wan to see if he's listening, then continued, "As I grew older, I attended school and everything, just average events. I believed the galaxy was quite peaceful back then, until one day when my father told me about my past. He told me everything about the rising of Separatists and how dangerous they are. They were practically invading many planets including the Naboo system!"
"I know that myself!" Obi-Wan got surprised, memories flashed in his mind. "I was there myself, fighting for peace!"
"You fought along the Gungens?" He asked in disbelief.
"I did. I was there all the time! It was on the day we've discovered Anakin." The Master smiled.
"I heard everything about wars." The man continued, "I knew what was going on in the galaxy. Us, children were told to be sareful and be ready for anything, because invasions might come on the next day. That's how we lived, in fear, hoping that Alderaan provides us lasting peace."
"That's terrible." Obi-Wan said. He tried to picture where he was at these times. I was probably teaching Anakin around this time... He thought.
The story continued, "For a short period of time, the population forgot about the danger. It was the Week of Celebrations, and everyone was happy, or at least pretended to be. What we celebrated, I don't know. Anyways, the Separatists have used this time to attack the unprepared Alderaan. Explosions started, droids everywhere on the streets, and the main communicator was blown up, so we were unable to call for help. Strange figures invaded the streets, people with bright red swords that cut through everything that ever means something to me." His voice weakened.
Obi-Wan could feel the pain he once could've. He didn't expect to hear any more from him, but to his surprise, the man continued.
"I went home that day to find a letter from my mother. I remember every single word. She wrote,
My Deer Son,
I now it's rely late to tel yu this now, but I'll not se you any more in my life. Seperatists hav bin treathening our famili for a year now, they sad they're luking for The Exeptionnal. Me and yor Father kept saying we don't now anything, but they never bilieved us. I don't tink we'll return home from wurk tonight. I'm sorry, Son. The Seperatists will kill us for not teling them the truth. But listen to me boy, you must eskape! Get out from this plannet! Go as far as posible! And take this with you! This wud box is from yor Father. The REAL one. He wanted to giv it to you when you get older. Heer's the time.
Be very carful, my Son! Me and your Father love yu a lot! Stay alive and folow my last orders; go away from heer.
Milions of kises:
Mother"
Obi-Wan sat silently next to the crying boy. He could barely finish the end of the letter when he burst into tears. A sorrowful feeling surrounded the Jedi Master as he heard what happened during the time he was chasing the bounty hunter Jango Fett, or taught Anakin the ways of the Force. Although he didn't understand half of his story, Obi-Wan was just as sad as he was.
Fighting the tears away, he continued the story. "I took the letter and the wooden box that was for me and put them in my backpack. Just as I turned around, metal hands grabbed me and I was captured by a huge cyborg."
"I heard about him!" Obi-Wan said. "Back in the Jedi Temple, three Masters told me they were fighting him! It was General Griveous or something." He remembered back to his conversation with Shaak Ti, Master Mundi and Aayla Secura from a few days ago.
"I recognise that name. He captured me, I had no chance to fulfill Mother's last wish." He sighed and paused, "I was then transported to the hands of one of the figures who carry bright red swords."
"Sith." Obi-Wan pronounced the word like a curse, "They carry red lightsabers."
"He wanted me. He said I have something he needs, and I had no idea what he meant. He said the key to destroy the Republic is in me because I am The Exceptional, like my mother told me."
"How come I've never heard of The Exceptional?" The Jedi asked, "The Council knows nothing about it's existance."
"Probably because the only person who'd been treathening me about it was killed. The information died with him." He answered, "That Sith was the one who killed my parents."
"How did he die?"
"I killed him."
"What? How?" Obi-Wan asked in disbelief.
"With the thing my birthfather left for me, as my Mother had mentioned. This!" He held out his hand. And in there, Obi-Wan saw a metal, cylindrical, 25 centimeters long object. There was no mistake. It was a lightsaber.
"You're a Jedi!"
