Personality Change

I've heard stories of Pokemon changing personality after evolving many times, but I never actually believed them to be true. Why would evolving have such a drastic effect? They're still the same Pokemon, just with a new form, right? 

Then again, what do I know? I can't ever find out for myself, since for some reason I'm completely incapable of evolving. Why is it that some Pokemon evolve and some can't? 

But I'm getting off topic here. Anyway, I never believed the whole "Pokemon's personalities can change after evolving" thing until I saw it for myself. Greninja...he and I used to be best friends, back when he was a Froakie and then a Frogadier. His personality didn't change all that much after his first evolution-not at all, really. But ever since he evolved into Greninja...well, let's just say he's changed. A lot. 

He never smiles anymore, not really. It's always more of a smirk than an actual smile. He acts like he doesn't care about anyone's feelings, even mine. And let me tell you, it hurts like nothing has ever hurt me before, because he still means a lot to me. I just wish I knew why he changed-and where the old Greninja is now. Does his personality change have anything to do with his new dark-typing? 

Where is he hiding the little frog who could make anyone laugh, even without meaning to? Who always tried to cheer up his friends when something was bothering them? Who obviously felt inadequate at times, yet refused to accept help from anyone because he wanted to prove his worth himself? Who finally gave me a chance after months of refusing to be friends with me, and turned out to be one of the best friends I could ever have? Who would do anything to protect his teammates? 

Whatever happened to the Pokemon he used to be? The one who was nice to other Pokemon, like me.
