They were an ugly red, Hawlucha decided as he watched Greninja turn away from him after yet another failed attempt at asking him out. Not only did they clash horribly with his blue skin, but red eyes didn't suit anyone. Red eyes were associated with people of evil, not to mention there was just something inherently unnerving about them.
His tongue scarf didn't do him any favors either. How on earth did he breathe with that thing wrapped around his face? Hawlucha was surprised that Greninja hadn't suffocated to death by now. Besides, having his tongue exposed like that was almost certainly unhygienic and definitely off-putting. Anyone who wanted to get close to him (physically speaking) would get a face full of slimy frog tongue; no good, no good at all.
If that wasn't enough, Greninja had an incredibly awkward figure as well. He was tall and gangly, not to mention much too thin. His posture was terrible, and he shuffled about awkwardly when he walked. It was a wonder how the slightest puff of wind didn't blow him over.
Yes, Greninja really was quite hideous. He just had to look at him the right way.
And as long as he kept looking at him like this, Hawlucha told himself, then surely his feelings for the frog Pokemon would disappear. If he disciplined himself and refused to see Greninja for anything other than the ugly, argumentative specimen that he was, eventually his heart would stop racing every time he saw him. After all, it hadn't taken much for him to fall for the water-type in the first place, so it shouldn't be difficult for him to lose them as well.
Unfortunately, his resolve wavered and dissipated completely when Greninja turned to look at him one last time, with an expression full of disdain and ruby-colored eyes that shone as brightly as the gem itself.
