CHAPTER TWO: SAGES POV

In the three days that have passed I cannot stop thinking about Andres. My eyes red with unshed tears, sleep deprivation evident on my face.

These feelings hurt more than him leaving, knowing that I have been replaced makes me question every moment I shared with him.

The images of Andres and Zoey haunt me every passing moment. As I attend meetings, meet with suppliers, sign off documents, flashes of the coffee shop taint me.

What hurts the most is that Andres knows that I know he is back yet he hasn't tried to speak to me since the day I stormed out of the coffee shop. No phone calls, no messages, not even a pigeon with a letter. I have tied to accept the fact that he has moved on, but I don't want him too, I want him. I need him.

Currently as I sit on my balcony, looking out at the calm ocean in front of me, the gate intercom clicks.

'Mr Wolfgang, there is a Zoey Winter at the main entrance.' The voice of the night guard, Stewart, crackles through.

I walk over to the device and pick up the receiver, a sudden chill passes through me. Is he here? Would he really visit after all this time? No, he couldn't be here. The girl must have come on her own.

'Evening Stewart, may I speak to her?'

'Hello Sage?' her sugary voice passes through. 'We need to talk!'

'Is Andres with you?' I ask, not quite sure if I want to face him right now. Even if I want to rush into his arms.

'No, are you crazy? He doesn't even know that I am here. I got your address from his phone when he was in the shower,' she says.

I let out a sigh. 'Well, come on in then, ninth driveway on your left,' I say as I press one of the buttons on the intercom that permits her into the estate.

After waiting a few more minutes, I peer out of the front window and see her car turn into my driveway. She parks in front of the front door.

I quickly walk over to open the door, wanting this intervention to be over as soon as possible. My mind is itching for answers, and I silently hope she can provide them.

As Zoey exits her car and begins walking towards me, the sound of her high heels on the cobble stone is the only thing filling the void of awkwardness between us.

'Hello Sage,' she says as I move aside letting her into my home. 'How are you?'

'I'm well, why are you here Zoey?' I ask, suddenly not in the mood for small talk.

She lets out a small sigh: 'To talk about you and Andres, I can tell you that he is in a much worse state that you.'

'Why?' I ask, without thinking, 'He seemed not to care at the coffee shop. I don't think I am a part of his life anymore.'

'He misses you. He did not take kindly to you storming out that day,' she says, 'you really need to talk to him, hear his side, and set this straight. Give him the comfort he needs.'

'Don't you provide him with the comfort that he needs. Considering that you are his girlfriend. How can he miss me when he has you?' I say the last bit with a hint of sourness.

Zoey lets out another sigh, 'Andres and I were never serious. I could always tell that I didn't provide him with something he so desperately needed when we were together. Hell, he didn't even respond when I made advances to be more intimate with him. One day I was going through his phone gallery and came across a separate folder. A folder containing pictures of you and him, together. For the first time I saw him genuinely happy, there was a sparkle in his eyes. You were the reason behind that sparkle. It was from that moment I knew that I wouldn't be able to help him as his girlfriend, but I would be able to as his friend. That is why I convinced him to come home for a couple of weeks, so he could be with you.'

'So you know that he is bisexual?'

'He told me when we first met,' she tells me as we both start to walk towards the lounge area.

I nod, 'The coffee shop, what was that about?'

'Well for starters, he asked me to meet him there saying that he had to talk to me about something important. He was about to discuss it with me just as you came.'

'Did you find out what he wanted to tell you?'

'Yes, he was going to tell me the truth. After you left, he came back completely broken. He said that you were his lover, that he needed you and that he and I could never be together. He also said that now that he is back home he will not be returning to Canada. He wants you, but after what happened at the coffee shop he is afraid that he has lost you forever.'

'He could never lose me, I love him. I want him back, it's just that after all that you have told me, I don't know if I am ready to face him, I should have been more humble at the coffee shop, given him a chance to explain,' I sadly mumble.

'If I am being completely honest, I think you should really talk to him. The guilt is eating him up alive, which is why I am here. We have to go to him, before he does something extreme. Also it's not as if he is innocent, he played his part in damaging the relationship you both had.'

'Zoey, I just don't think I am ready.' The emotions I have been feeling these past three days start to resurface again.

'Either you come with me or I bring him here. It's your choice.' She challenges.

I think for a minute. 'Ugh, fine I will come with you,' I say as I dramatically throw my hands up in defeat. 'But as soon as I say so we are going to leave.'

'Deal'

'Let me just get my phone and wallet,' I say as I turn to leave the room. 'We are also going with my car.'

I smirk as I hear Zoey groan.
