SAGES POV

According to Zoey, Andres has been living at his parents' home, which is in a complex about forty minutes away from my home. Memories flash through my mind as we make the drive towards the complex. I actually go there quite often, however, since this visit is specifically to see Andres, a wave of emotion crashes into me.

Half of the drive is taken up by Zoey animatedly talking about her twin brother, Joey. Apparently he is a starting actor and his wife is just with him because of his money. During the other half of the trip she is yelling at him through the phone.

While Zoey is on the phone I think of how I am going to address the situation with Andres. Will we end up arguing? Will we finally end everything amicably? By the time we reach our destination I am completely freaking out. I think Zoey notices my apprehension because as she ends the call she says, 'Hey, don't worry everything will be alright.'

I shrug her off as I enter the well-rehearsed code into the keypad beside the gate. As the gate opens Zoey speaks again.

'You have free access to the place, Andres said that only residents can open the gates,' she says confused.

'He is right, however I am part of the board that runs this complex, I also own and rent out a few houses in it as well.'

Saying that leads me to think. I have been in and out of this complex almost every week and Andres has clearly been back for more than a week so how did I not see him before?

'You work for the body corporation?' she asks.

'No, I am one of the people on the board that makes final decisions in running the place.'

'What is it that you do exactly?'

'Well, I currently run my family business, Wolfgang properties. We deal with higher end property sales and home renovations. I took over when my parents retired, five years ago. They live in America now.'

'Wow, impressive.'

I silently smile to myself. I work hard in trying to upkeep the family name.

'However, now we have more important things to worry about than to talk about how fat that leather wallet of yours is.'

'It's pleather actually,' I whisper mainly to myself.

Her words bring me back to reality about Andres. I am here to see Andres. I truly cannot decide if I'm going to have a panic attack or bounce in excitement, or just die. The latter seems very appealing at this moment. However, some element of me is excited that I am going to see him, I can hardly wait.

I feel a small solemn smile creep onto my face.

He always did have this sort of effect on me. Making me want to prance around like a pony, free from all worries. Not a care in the world. He is my rock and my hard place.

I almost feel like laughing. No matter how angry or miserable I feel, he will forever make me feel like a teenage boy. It's as if he is the exception to my every rule. Fate truly is cruel. I have so much pain and anger inside me, but a mere whisper of his name and I am at peace.
