Chapter 17: Seiko

Dinner had gone as expected, Mrs Yui was a welcome presence in the house; as she was naturally good with kids and made a good mother figure. Even so over the festivities of dinner, Mayu did not let conversation escape the air around them. It was obvious from the smiles she gave Seiko to the brooding nature in which she would play with her food. The thought made her uncomfortable, to return to Heavenly Host? What sane person would do that?  She doubted that on their own they could do it. Mrs Yui would reject the idea wholeheartedly, meaning it would be only herself.. and Mayu.

They were the weaklings of the group, Seiko, who was confoundingly optimistic, and Mayu, the one who trusted danger. The only reason they had survived was because of the strength of their friends. If they were able to go back.. they might not survive. Even this fact seemed not to disturb Mayu, she must have something, if not willpower.

It didn't take long for the answer to hit her, as she was staring at her now cold peas she realized what Mayu had just told her. A fact that should have been obvious. The ghost. The ghost that had escaped from the Nirvana was going to help them. Maybe .. just maybe that ghost would be their only hope of surviving. That and a well-crafted plan. Seiko sighed, even if she was against the idea, it was obvious that she had no choice in the matter. Mayu would have convinced her either way, so.. if they were going to do this they had better be prepared.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After Dinner~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After dinner, Seiko and Mayu convened after wishing Mrs. Yui a good night. Mayu had offered to spend the night, to convene a plan of attack.  Seiko brought out her small parcel, the two stones that had been passed into her care clinked to the ground as normal as any ordinary stone. Mayu opened the journal flipping to a clean page. As she went to stick the pencil to the paper she looked up, "What should we get to take with us?". Seiko pondered for a second leaning back into her chair. " Water, food definitely... Toilet paper... Flashlights... and.." Mayu looked up questioningly "and?". Seiko pondered trying to put her thoughts into words. "some sort of marker.. so we could tell where we have been, like a beacon or something." , she glances at Mayu to see if she had gotten her idea through and was met by a curt nod. Mayu wrote the list down adding 'first aid kit' at the bottom, as one could never be too careful, especially at a place like that. The plan soon would be put into motion, well after a bit of shopping of course.
