With a pack filled with candy I carry on through the city ironically happy just from that rare pleasure of enjoying a sweet. I’m too busy thinking how I took candy for granted before The Forth Horseman, that I don’t notice the presence of someone casually walking behind me.
“Hello there.” A voice behind me greets and before I know it I have swung around, cocked my gun and am aiming it at the boys head. The stranger doesn’t even flinch, instead he stares at me with a gorgeous smirk on his face and his hands in his pockets.
To be honest I have to mentally stop myself from falling over from the beauty of this boy. He takes a hand out of his pocket and I stiffen ready to attack, but he just runs it through his luscious, dark brown hair sweeping it off his forehead revealing a set of sparkly green eyes. I swear he must have been a model before all these terrorist attacks.
“Is anyone there?” He says waving his hand in front of my face and pulling me back down to earth.
“Who are you?” I blurt out, my voice cracking from my nerves.
“My name is Harry, please put the gun down I’m not going to hurt you.” My arms obey his command and lowers the rifle. “Thank-you, now can I ask what you are doing wondering the streets of Tallahassee in the middle of a global war?” I can’t help but stare at the definition of muscles in his arms as he crosses them across his chest. A tare in the fabric on his singlet reveals a tattoo on his chest of a large butterfly.
“How do I know you aren’t a spy?” I question him tearing my eyes away from his muscles.
“What do you mean? Like a secret agent spy?” Harry asks frowning in confusion. I wonder if he is serious or jut acting dumb.
“A spy for them, the terrorists. You seem a little too confident to be somebody in hiding!” I say through clenched teeth.
“No need to get angry, I’m not a spy okay!” He says smirking again.
Before he can say anymore I turn and sprint away as fast as I can. I don’t hear Harry call after me which is good because I don’t want him around me. It’s better to be alone and trust nobody…isn’t it?
After running for what seems like the length of a marathon I stop and turn to see if I haven’t been followed. I let out a scream as I am nose to nose with Harry.
“You’re very fast.” He compliments still smirking. Not even a bead of sweat threatens to form on his perfect face as I wipe what seems like a water fall of sweat from my own.
“What the fuck?” I question him as I raise my gun up again.
“What is your problem? If I was going to hurt you I would have done it when I was following you after you left that candy shop. You’re the first human being I have seen since this death attack started, so please can you put that fucking rifle down and hear me out?” Harry replies to me, his facial expressions suddenly turning very serious.
“Okay, fine. What do you want?” I ask a little too harshly and lower my rifle for the second time.
“Come with me so we aren’t out in the open for all to see us and then we can talk.” He turns and starts to walk back the way we have just come. I follow him trying to ignore the feeling in the pit of my stomach of uncertainty.
Harry and I walk in silence for a few minutes until we get to a deserted hotel. It looks like it was a pretty flash hotel from the beautiful interior in the front foyer as we enter through the front doors. A shiver shoots up my spine and I stop dead in my tracks. Something doesn’t feel right about this, Harry seemed too casual about meeting me. Either he is stupid and is lucky to have survived this long, or he isn’t who he says he is.
