Back in school I never had a boyfriend because all the guys saw me as too much of a good friend to date or “Luke’s sister”. So how is it that when the world goes to shit two of the most gorgeous guys fall for me?! Yet to make the situation worse, I’ve developed feelings for not just one of them, but both! I’m sitting up on the hill that Harry took me up yesterday overlooking the ruins of Los Angeles. The sun turns the horizon a stunning shade of pink and orange as it rises into the blue sky. I really take in this moment as it may be my last sunrise depending on how the day plays out. I am both nervous and excited to rescue Luke, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up just in case he isn’t there or worse…

“Hey.” I look behind me to see Calum walking up behind me. I’ve never really had the chance to get to know Calum on a personal level, maybe because he used to work for those monsters that I am watching down on this very moment. “How are you feeling?” He adds taking a seat next to me.

“Nervous, scared, excited.” I answer, a surge of adrenaline rising in me as I run through the plan again in my head.

“Same, and don’t worry I won’t turn on you guys. You pretty much saved me the day you shot my foot. It was either work for them or die.” Calum says rubbing his injured foot.

“Yeah sorry about that.” I say referring to his foot. He isn’t going to be much use to us on foot, so that’s why he is going to drive us in acting like he’s still on their side dressed in his heavy black uniform.

“So what’s with you and the other two? I hope you don’t mind me asking.”

“To be honest Calum, I have no idea. I just feel… guilty.”

“Why?”

“Well, if I choose one over the other I’d feel sorry for the other guy.”

“Oh yeah I get that.” Calum answers nodding. “Harry seems genuinely in love with you but kind of struggles to show it, whereas Ashton seems to have a natural gift with the ladies.” I giggle at Calums analysis.

“You’re very observant aren’t you? I feel like I’m having a heart to heart with one of my best girlfriends.”

“Well you seem to be surrounded by guys, so I don’t mind being a honouary girl for a couple of minutes.” He laughs and puts a hand on my shoulder suddenly turning serious. “I hope you get through today with the results you want. Go in there and kick some ass!”

“Thanks Calum.” I say with a laugh and pull him into a hug.

I can hear my heart thudding at 100 miles per hour in my chest. Millions of butterflies erupt in my stomach as the van approaches the gates of the compound. The target for today is to get Luke back and if we’re lucky, find Ashton’s younger brother. Calum is taking Ashton and me in as prisoners and Harry left earlier than us to sign in and explain his long absence. Once that is complete he will come and find us in the prisoners hold, giving false instructions to the officer on guard that he needs to remove us. From there he’ll sneak us into the fitting room and equip us with uniforms and weapons. Meanwhile Calum is on a mission to find an updated list of the prisoners from the time the compound was started. He will then come and find us in the fitting rooms to deliver a copy to each of us. Calum and Ashton will then go off together to search the Eastern side of the compound, Harry and I will cover the Western. Calum will issue us with all access passes and if we are questioned on our presence we will simply explain that we are on watch duty. If we manage to find Luke, we will then contact one another via walky talky and make our way to where the vans are situated. This is the part that shit could go down. We have then planned to drive the van as close to Luke’s location, smuggle him into the vehicle and drive away. If we get caught in this process we could be kissing our lives goodbye.

“Thanks mate.” I hear Calum say as the officer gives him access into the compound. A screeching noise triggers my hearing and I presume it’s the gate opening. We drive in, in the black van we found a few miles up the road from where we were camped out. I’m not going to mention what we had to do to get it, but let’s just say Calum’s knife throwing skills are to be applauded.

“Here we go!” Ashton says letting out a deep breath. I lean into him and hug him tight. I pull back and look into his green eyes, emotions running wild in me, then I kiss him. Feeling his warm lips against mine and his strong hands rested on my lower back causes me to forget everything for a moment. He kisses me back harder wrapping his arms all the way around me. Memories of me and him on the rooftop in Trinidad having a romantic meal in our fancy clothes fills my mind. The sweet guy that went out of his way to make an evening special for me is the boy I am in love with.

“GUYS!” Calum yells from the front seat. “I said we’re here.” I pull away from Ashton unable to hide my smile.

“Good luck gorgeous.” Ashton says giving me dimply smile back.
