"What was that?" I ask Harry before wriggling out of his embrace.
"What was what?" Harry replies innocently.
"Don't bullshit with me! Why did you wrap your arm around me and wink at Ashton like that?"
"Can I guy not wink at another guy? Jesus Essie, you always assume the worst of me! Can't you accept me as a friend? Maybe cut me some slack? I helped you get Ashton back didn't I?" Harry says stopping just beside the van. He looks at me with an annoyed expression and something in my mind clicks. I can't believe I didn't see this before.
"I have it!" I say with a big smile on my face.
"Have what?" Harry asks frowning.
"You're jealous of Ashton and I. It all makes sense! You saving me from being taken by those men in black, then going out of your way to search the whole of Salt Lake City to find me. Then not to mention all the touching and what not, as well as when you mentioned to me that you went out of your way to find me not Ashton! You really were telling the truth when you said you liked me!" Harry just stands there, his cheeks turning redder and redder. "Cute!" I tease as I reach to open the van door. Harry's hand slams against the vehicle right by my face and I turn around in shock to see he has me pinned against it. With his angry facial expressions and tense body, I get the feeling that I have triggered a nerve deep inside him. He literally just stares at me with this menacing look on his face until he leans into me fast, locking his lips against mine. I scream out with my lips still against Harry's hitting his chest as hard as I can, but he's so strong that I can't break free. All of a sudden Haleigh flies backwards onto the road and I stare in disbelief at Calum who stands over him.
"Are you okay?" Calum asks me with a sincere look in his eyes. I'm in shock. Did Calum really 'save' me from Harry?
"Yeah, I'm okay... thanks." I answer giving him a small smile. I look down at Harry and frown at him. "I knew you were too much of an asshole to trust. I don't want to see you again, so you better be gone by the time the sun sets or I'll kill you." I'm still a little shaken up so my voice doesn't sound as threatening as I'd like it to. Harry gets to his feet and dusts off his arms and legs.
"I can't help the way I feel about you Essie, but if you really want me to leave then I will." He looks up at me with his sad green eyes, a pleading look on his face. I ignore it and walk back towards the shop grabbing Calum's wrist and pulling him with me. I turn around one more time to see Harry walking away in the distance, his shoulders slouched and his hands in his pockets. I take in his image one last time before turning back to Calum and Ashton, guilt circulating through my body.
"Wow, he does sound like an asshole." Calum announces as we fit the last tire on the van. As we have been working I've told him all about Harry and when I first ran into him, not to mention what he's done to me.
"Yeah, he had his good moments though." I say confused at why I am sticking up for him.
"Only because he loved you!"
"He didn't love me."
"Yes he did Essie! It was kind of obvious!" Ashton says backing Calum up. I sigh as I wipe my greasy hands over my jeans and jump into the driver's seat.
"You don't want me to drive?" Calum asks.
"Yeah that might be a good idea." I jump back out again. Letting an experienced van driver take the wheel may be a better idea. "Shot gun though!" I say playfully punching Ashton in the arm. He smiles at me and pretends to act all sad. I just giggle and walk around to the other side of the van, getting into my seat. Ashton jumps into the back where they put people they capture.
"Gross." He says unimpressed and I look back to see what he is referring to. Dried blood from victims who were beaten line the metal walls of the in closed space. Ashton jumps out of the back and squeezes in next to me up front. I don't mind even though the three of us are extremely close.
"This is cosy!" Calum announces before starting up the engine. I still don't know if we can trust Calum and I can tell Ashton is thinking the same thing by the way he is looking at me. I give him a small smile and take his hand into my own to try and assure him that everything will be okay. "Next stop, LA!" Calum adds as we pull out onto the street.
