Hundreds of ideas about how I am going to escape flood my mind as I bounce up and down on the cold, metal surface of the truck. All of them seeming faultless until I come up with a better one. Calum has woken up and is leaning against the wall opposite me holding his head and Ashton is still unconscious next to me lying on his back. I have one arm draped over his chest so he’s not rolling everywhere. Only a small amount of light creeps into the cracks and rusted holes of the back of the truck so I can only just make out Calum and Ashton’s features. The smell of the small confined space is almost unbearable and I don’t want to think what was locked up in here previous to us. It’s been a couple of hours now since we started moving and I’m getting seriously worried about Ashton and even more agitated that I haven’t done anything about escaping yet. Suddenly the truck comes to a screeching halt and our bodies slide along the floor. I hear the doors of the front cab slam and hear deep muffled voices of the men outside. By what I can make out of the conversation sounds like it’s getting pretty heated. Suddenly there’s the sound of feet scuffling around on the gravel and yelling breaks out.
“Are they fighting?” Calum whispers. I shrug my shoulders looking at him with wide eyes. Now would be the perfect time to try and escape. I look around frantically for a way out, something to bust down, but we are pretty much trapped against our will. I jump and let out a small squeal as a gunshot goes off too close to the truck. Shot after shot is heard until there is complete silence. Calum and I are now lying flat on our stomachs either side of Ashton freaking out and wondering what the hell is going on out there. Footsteps are heard quickly making their way to the truck. The vehicle dips as somebody climbs into the front seat and starts the engine, carrying on in the same direction as we were headed before.
“What should we do?” I quietly ask Calum.
“Just stay quiet for now.”
About an hour later I finally can’t take it anymore and stand up from my position from the ground. Calum has fallen asleep so I lightly kick him to wake him up. He blinks and rubs his tired eyes before looking up at me.
“What?”
“We need to do something!” I replied in a hushed tone.
“Like what?” Calum replies standing up and bracing his sleepy body against the wall of the truck. I look towards the wall that the driver would be sitting directly behind and stumble towards it banging on it with the heel of my hand as hard as I can. All of a sudden we’re propelled forward at an alarming force as to truck grinds to a halt. I smash my face against the metal wall falling backwards over Ashton. Calum lands beside me holding his head. I hold my fingers up to my nose checking for blood. Sure enough there is a decent amount now running down my chin and on to my white t-shirt. I lick my lips a screw my eyes shut at the horrible metallic taste. Calum pulls off his flannel shirt and hands it to me. I smile at him in thanks, pressing it to my nose. The front door of the truck squeaks open and is slammed loudly. I swallow hard as I follow the sound of slow footsteps around the side of the vehicle to the back doors. Suddenly we’re blinded by the overwhelming brightness of the sun. A silhouette stands in the doorway with their hands on their hips and I blink fast trying to see who it is. Finally as my vision comes back to me the first thing I focus on is their mouth, but how familiar the smirk is makes my stomach drop.
“Well, this sure is a surprise!” British accent, mischievous smirk…
“Harry…”
