It was 6 in the morning and Y/n was already moaning about her headache .
"Why do I never learn?" Y/n mumbles to herself . Because you need to rid the pain Y/n's conscious speaks . Silently agreeing with herself , Y/n made herself breakfast . Toast , scrambled eggs and a sausage with tea to top it off . She was from Kings Row .
Y/n flipped through the channels using the remote while she ate her breakfast . Finishing the last piece of bread , Y/n puts the plate into the sink along with her cup .
Plopping onto the couch , she watched whatever show she was .
Today was an off day for the agents . Lucio and Soldier even planned a beach party in the evening . Nice to see Soldier having some fun for once .
Then , a loud knock on the door broke Y/n out of her thoughts . With a groan , Y/n stood up and opened the door . "Hello?" Y/n greeted , opening the door only to reveal the face she wanted to see the least . "Hey love . I-I came here to tell you that Winston calling us . Athena is fixing the comm." Lena said . The Brit gulped as she stared at Y/n's feature .
"Uh , sure . Let me get ready first though." Y/n said . "Come in." Y/n let the brunette in .
Lena mumbled a quick thank you and enetered the noirette's room . As Y/n got herself ready , Lena couldn't help but think how different it was now . The two were acting like complete strangers . Lena leaned further into the couch with a long sigh .
Out of the corner of her eye , Lena spotted a bottle . A bottle of alchohol .
Lena walked over to it and inspected the bottle . Lena touched it with her finger . Cold , fresh . Someone drank this yesterday . This is Y/n's room , could that mean ... Lena's thoughts were interuppted by Y/n calling .
"Alright , lets go." Y/n said . The noirette noticed Lena not responding . "Lena , you okay there?" Y/n asked . Lena turned around , the empty bottle of alchohol Y/n drank yesterday in hand . "Whose one is this?" Lena asked shakily .
"Lena , thats not important . Lets just go." Y/n said . "Its yours , isn't it love?" Lena choked out . Y/n stared at the Brit before nodding . "It is mine . Now , can we go?" Y/n tried to change the topic . "What did you do when you first left?" Lena asked . "Lena , I didn't do anything . Lets just go." Y/n said . "Your apartment . It was a mess , why?" Lena brought it up .
Ever since , her and Hana saw Y/n's apartment condition , Lena wanted to ask Y/n why . Now , she was .
"I-" Y/n struggled to speak . Quickly mustering all the courage she could , she spoke . "I went out." Y/n said . "Where?" the Brit asked for details . "A bar . After you left , I felt pain . I needed to numb it . I went to my old habits . I drank my emotions , I didn't want to feel my heart . But it never helped." Y/n said .
Lena felt guilty . "Wait old habits?" Lena said . "I used to drink but I stopped until now." Y/n said . "Love." Lena whispered . Stepping a step closer and cupping Y/n's cheek with her hand .
Lena could fell Y/n's hot breath on her lips .
Y/n pulled away from Lena and smiled . "Lets go now." Y/n said before walking away , leaving Lena frozen . On the way back to Winston's lab , so many question were running through Lena's mind . And she knew that the noirette won't speak . Instead , the Brit decided to ask Reaper later .
Lena and Y/n entered Winston's lab to see him working on something . "Good your here . Y/n , I was wondering if you could help me." Winston asked . "Sure , whats up big guy?" Y/n said .
After that , Lena just spaced out . Not focusing on what Y/n and Winston were doing . "Hey Winston , I'll just go and talk to Reaper." Lena sais . "Sure thing , just remember we have a beach party in the evening." Winston reminded . "Sure thing love." Lena said before leaving .
Through the busy hallways , Lena managed to find Reaper at the cafeteria .
"Hey Reaper." Lena called . The masked man looked at the Brit . "What?" he asked . "I need to know a few things about Y/n." Lena said . "Fine , go ahead." Reaper said .
"Did she ever have a drinking problem?" Lena forced herself to say .
"She did . She even had that problem when she was underage . It was a habit of hers . Smoking , drinking and all that . She would come back with atleast a bruise or cut . I promised her parents that I would take care of her . So I drove her to get back in track . She stopped . But I know when her heart experiences to much pain , she'll go back to it." Reaper said .
Every word that Reaper said , felt like another bullet to Lena's heart .
"Uh , thanks . I got to go." Lena rushed . "No problem!" Reaper yelled . Lena blinked back to Winston's lab and saw Y/n still there helpig Winston .
"You back so soon Lena?" Y/n spoke up . "Yeah , just had to get something done first." the Brit scratched her neck , nervously .
Lena sat down on one of the tires Winston had converted into a chair . Watching Winston and Y/n work on whatever they were working on . The Brit would even occasionally play cards with Athena . Hours past by , and they still weren't done .
"Phew , hard work pays off." Winston finally said . "What did?" Lena asked . "We fixed the comm . One hundred percent un-hackable." Y/n smiled proudly . Y/n looked at the time and her eyes widen . "Its 1 , I got to go change." Y/n rushed . "Thanks for helping!" Winston thanked . "No problemo!" Y/n replied back before dissapearing .
"The party starts at 6 , why don't yoy get yourself ready?" Winston said . "So early?" Lena pouted . "Don't you want to spend some time with Y/n?" Winston raised his eyebrows .
Lena blushed before blinking off to her room . Then she remembered . She's not mine anymore
Lena shook her head . Stopping in her tracks . The Brit felt her heart clench . She has a drinking problem . I'm not helping her , I'm making it worse . Why did I leave her when she needed me most ?
Lena internally face palmed herself . The brunette quickly blinked to her room and got herself ready . Even making a plan on how to fix things with Y/n . Little did she know , Y/n was too .
Last chapter is chapter 40 . I know , I know its super short . But ya'll want a sequel to MTH and I have other books to publish . But , I still love this book and I personally love the ending . It had my favourite song it in . So be ready for it . See ya !!
