I open my eyes to find my mom sitting at the edge of my bed. How did I not hear her come in and sit on my noisy, squeaky bed. "Hey mom." My voice sounds scratchy from sleep. "Good morning sweetheart." She says very cheerfully. "I made you all waffles for breakfast." After she mentions the word waffles my stomach growls loudly. I sit up and rub my eyes tiredly. I can feel my puffy eyelids from sleep. "I'll be right there mom." She grins warmly and leaves the room. My mom hasn't cooked anything for me since we got here. We always just eat cereal or at school. Maybe its because she's afraid the boys will judge her cooking. I have to be honest I miss her cooking so much.
I get out of my bed and put on a simple, comfortable outfit and wash my face in the bathroom. Angel's door is closed, but I can still here the music and feel the vibration from his room. That usually means he's changing. I've never met anyone who got ready to go to school with music. I think it's a little distracting. Luke comes out of his room shirtless "ahh!!" I scream and cover my eyes in a dramatic act. "Oh shut up you immature." He rolls his eyes and shoves me aside to use the bathroom. "Yeah you innature cow!" Mark who is also shirtless yells from the outside of his room. Mark is always trying so hard to be like Luke, maybe he's trying to be better or tougher. To think that he's trying to insult me, but doesn't know how to talk right makes me feel sorry for him.
I prepare my waffles with strawberry chunks and poor a waterfall of syrup. Luke drowns his waffles in syrup mean while Mark puts Nutela, jelly, peanut butter, syrup, and whip cream. Angel comes out of his room with messy hair (as always) and puffy eyes. At least I'm not the only one. "Hey" I say giving him a smile of happiness. "Hey" he mutters quietly. "Waffles?" I ask offering. "No thanks. I'll get something else." The smile on my face soon vanished. What a way to start a day. "Rejection!" Luke shouts. Syrup running down his chin. I stare blankly at the space between us ignoring Luke's stupid comment. Angel just glances at him. "What are you gonna eat then?" I ask my although my voice has changed into a more desperate/disappointed tone. "I'll get something later." He says looking down at my face scratching his elbow. I now realized he is still in his pajamas or sleeping clothes. "What are you doing? You are gonna miss the bus!" My face burns red with frustration. "I know. I'm not ridding the bus. I'm not going anywhere." I shake my head slowly. I'm not happy about it. I hold back arguments. They taste bitter inside my mouth. I hesitate to speak, "I understand." Angel doesn't say anything else, I assume he knows the fact that he's not going to school today bothers me, but does not say. He began to walk off to his room, but stopped mid way and spun back. "Hey, I know you really want me to go. I appreciate it, but I'm not ready to see people." I understand now. "Yeah I totally get it." I say speaking more normally and force on a fake smile. "I need to finish up getting ready." I point to my room direction. "These waffles don't taste good." Mark complains loudly with a sour face. "Well next time don't combine all of those disgusting toppings." I yell back.

I was surprises to see Travis get on the bus. He has been avoiding bus rides. School too. I roll my eyes and try to occupy the empty spot besides me, but soon he towers over me with a smirk. "This is the only spot available on this bus Colleen." He says my name in a creepy singing voice. I grown loudly so he can hear me and move my backpack to the floor with a thud. He sits next to me and purposely scoots very close to me. "So did Angel make it back home?" He grinned at me with that smile I once thought was perfect and dreamy. I don't answer, I just keep my eyes firm on the details of the window besides me. The fog covers the window like a cold white bed sheet. Soon he gave up and scooted away and started talking to one of his friend who was sitting behind us about his plans with Noelle.
I jog to my locker and get my stuff ready for my first period. I have an assignment to turn in. "Hey! How are you?" Katie appears in front of me. She is wearing a very pretty coat with a white button up shirt under, dressing pants and men shoes. So practically fancy clothes. "Hey what's the special occasion clothes for?" I ask wiggling my eyebrows at her. The group and I have now became good friends specially Katie. Not the closest, but we support each other. "I finally asked out Carol and she said, yes." I squeal and hug her, "Omg congrats girl!" I congratulate her. "I'm taking her to dinner right after school". She's been crushing on this girl Carol thats been in one of her period classes and now she finally stood up for what she wanted. Dinner right after school isn't that crazy, I mean it does get dark pretty early.
