Different point of view.
I wait a long time outside of my school. I pace around in blind circles in the darkness. Summer hasn't fully arrived yet so its still cold at night. So cold I can see the white clouds of my breath. There is only one person that keeps me going and I'm doing this for her. Everything about her makes me feel safe and bright.
Soon the headlights of an old junk of a car blind me. My aunt puts down the window and stares at me in annoyance. "Are you go gonna get in or sleep with the rats inside the school?" I roll my eyes at her and get inside the car tossing my backpack to the backseats. I never liked my aunt. She's my dads sister, but gosh she's annoying. She looks just like my dad including the masculinity which doesn't look good on her, except for her eyes, they are brown and frightened looking. She's also a pain on the back. Not to mention she loves to gossip and spends three hours in the morning talking with friends. Did I mention she loves to annoy people, get into their heads, and ruin families?
She's a big reason my mom and dad used to fight. "I wonder what you did at home that gave your father no choice, but to kick you out." I ignore her, setting my jaw hard. "Let me guess, you got a tattoo? Piercing? A girl pregnant."
"For the love of my mother SHUT UP!" I snap. She looks at me with her frightened heavy- lidded eyes. "Fine have it your way you stupid brat."
"Shut up because of you my mother is dead!" My eyes are soaked with tears now. For a guy I must admit I cry to much, but I've read that its bad to hold tears in. "My fault?" she starts laughing as we come to a stop sign. "Its because of you and those stupid bratty siblings of yours!" A line of cars is standing behind us now. "Your stupid big mouth sent my mother crazy!" I yell at her going mad,
"Shut up! Shut the f... Get out of my car." I grab my back pack in between honks of the cars behind us. I glare at her as I get off and slamb the door shut. She then speeds away. She lives not so far from my father, so maybe I can walk home and crash in Colleen's closet. Distance is better for us right this moment, even though I'm dying to wrap my arms around her and tell her everything will be okay even though that just might not be the truth.
I've walked in the darkness before. That night I was in the hospital I had many dreams about my mom and Colleen. We where walking together in the darkness and my mother tried running us over. The other one colleen was dying and suddenly she turned into her. What am I doing? I'm so stupid! Leaving Colleen alone? What if she tries to do it again? I walk faster until I end up running instead. Breathing in the cold wind, but adrenaline made it warm for me.
I stop outside of my house. My face is so cold it's numb. My face is soaked with sweat, but I didn't feel it until I ran my hand across my forehead. I knock on Luke and Mark's room window. Luke opens it for me and looks at me with a blank expression. "What are you doing here A-" I cover his mouth, "Shhh... My dad's sister kicked me out so now I'm secretly crashing here."
"I don't think that's such a bright idea.""I need to see her. I'll be back." I here him calling me out before I exit the room, but I ignore it. Colleen's door is open which is strange. She likes her privacy so the door is always...
There he is sitting very close with her. that guy from math class. She smiles at him, but it fades when she seeing me staring. The guy looks back to find what's she's staring at. When he sees me he quickly jumps to stand. "This is your brother?" He asks crossed his arms.
"Yes." "No" Colleen and I both say at the same time. She said yes and I said no. "Well we will soon be step siblings." I can hardly believe the words that she speaks. I stand there awkwardly throwing blank glances at both of them. Why is he here? My whole self conscious feels like collapsing. You know how people say they're life flashed before their eyes? This is me, but instead I feel like I lost something. Someone. "I should go." Without hesitating I leave the room. My dad or Misty can catch me if I'm not careful. "Wait." She follows behind me. The thought of her wanting me makes my heart break. "Angel.. Where- Are we a thing?" She asks looking up at me with those sad eyes I had forgotten she had. I can tell she's been dying to ask me that for a while now. We fixed each other and now we are breaking eachother.
My mind left me before I answered her question. "I don't know." I really don't, but maybe assuring her is the best thing to do. She can move on and be happy. I feel her finger sliding through mine as she takes my hand. I want to hold her tightly and kiss her the way long lost couples do in shows, but this isn't a show. Its reality. "I don't want to see you anymore, we aren't a thing either." I pull my hand away from hers. Hurt reflects in her eyes along with tears. "I love you Angel." Her mouth can barely make out the words. As much as I want to say it back I don't. She needs to dislike me and live her life.
I turn my back on her. Every move that leads with it stings like needles, but its for the best. I lie inside my brothers' closet and take my mind off of Colleen. "Where is he?" I hear my dad's voice storm off. "Get out of there Angel. You know you don't have to hide from me, your aunt called me and it looks like you owe her a huge apology." I roll my eyes and step out of the closet. "No.. No, she owes us all an apology!" I'm so close to my dad I can feel him breathing heavily down on me. He shoves me to the door, "Your not staying here and thank yourself, now your going to sleep out in the streets."
"It's because I am not your son is that right?" His face stoftens and his eyes tear up. "Why would you say that?" Our moment is interrupted by a knock on the door. Everyone in the house gather up near the door. My dad opens the door for us. "I'm here for Eli." A tall guy with curly dirty blond almost brown hair says. Seeing him frightens me for he looks so familiar. Its like seeing someone who you just can't make out where you've seen them. He's very slender, but masculine at the same time, pretty much like Eli who with one glance you can tell that's his father, but just then when you actually look at Eli you can tell he looks more like his mom without even knowing or seeing her. His staring eyes glare at me and then takes Eli by the shoulder without another word being said.
Colleen looked shocked, but then seeing me broke her current state. "You need to go." My dad says without looking at me. What other choice do I have?
