You watched in shock as Deucalion tore into Marco. You knew he never should have questioned Deucalion's status even without his human vision. Deucalion's chest heaved after he was done, claws dripping blood, specks of crimson on his face.
"Duke?" You whispered ever so softly, slowly placing your hand on his shoulder. His breaths became nonexistent at your touch, stuck in his throat as your arms slowly came around him. "It's alright, Alpha. I'm not challenging you."
"I know. You never lie to me." Deucalion's voice sounded hoarse, possibly from exertion. You nosed his hair, hand cupping his cheek to turn his face towards you. His beautiful grey-blue eyes were now a murky dark grey, red bursting around his irises. You knew you'd never see his kind grey-blue eyes light up Alpha red again. You also knew this incident would change him, for better or worse. The itch to find Gerard and slaughter him was persistent, but the urge to stay by your Alpha's side was stronger.
"I have no reason to lie to you, Deucalion. Never have, never will." You pressed your lips against his forehead, a soft touch that he flinched an inch away from. "I'm sorry. I should have asked." You murmured, pulling away from the upset man when Deucalion gripped your wrist.
"He killed those of our pack."
"I know."
"...I want to declare vendetta against the Argents. Not yet. I must prepare to face him. To destroy him and any other threats to my future pack."
"You still have me, Duke. I will follow you wherever you want me to go. I will teach anyone worthy of your pack." Your heart was steady with truth, something you knew he was listening to.
"You don't care that I am blind?" He asked, and you felt as if it was a trick question.
"Deucalion, I joined you because I trust you. Blind, deaf, crippled, insane - it doesn't matter. You're my Alpha...You're my husband." You raised the wrist he was holding, placing a sweet kiss to the worn out and dried crimson hands.
"You truly mean it, huh? You don't miss my eyes? You always did remark on how...deep they were."
"I do. I miss them. I will miss them forever. But I don't need to look into your eyes to see how amazing of a man you are. Whether your revenge gets us killed, or whether we are victorious and stand above the bodies of those Argents, I will still know who you are. Eyes are windows to the soul, but I know that your heart is the door to your love."
You rested your palm over his steady organ, listening to the soft ba-dump, ba-dump. You felt it stutter under your fingers when he breathed in, slow and deep as he closed his eyes before exhaling just as calmly.
"If one day, you became a nuisance to my plans, will you remove yourself?" Deucalion spoke softly, and you could tell he was serious without reading his heart rate.
"If you needed me to, I would break every promise to every person I ever made one to. You're my everything. I will spell it out on every tree I pass for you if you desire it." You looked up into his eyes, knowing he couldn't see your (e/c) orbs as they flashed a golden yellow.
"...You will no longer be a Beta, (Y/N). I shall make you an Alpha. Together, we will kill Gerard and grow our pack. An Alpha pack." He said with finalisation, taking his hand from your wrist to trail his fingers up your arm, as if searching slowly from you. You grasped his hand in yours, placing his warm palm against your cheek and leaning into it.
"I love you, Deucalion." You smiled softly when he rubbed his thumb along your cheekbone, a fond smile on his lips. He looked down at you, eyes glowing completely red in a way that made you shudder.
"You have beautiful eyes, (Y/N)."
"...So do you." And you meant it.
