she is there today at lunch.

she is sitting in my spot.

it is just a simple red chair, nothing to be jealous over.

but it's next to Jem.

in my dreams, in my thoughts, i would say something.

i would march boldly forward, proclaiming my right.

this girl has no right to sit next to him.

but confrontation was never a strong suit of mine.

why argue, when you can stay quiet, never getting into trouble?

instead, i fade into the background, sitting farther away.

Jem's effort to keep me in socialization fail.

he is too entranced by her red lips.

in a glimpse of hallucination, i can already see it.

the best friend, fading from view.

perhaps i've just read too many books.

i must just be overreacting.
