I woke up to the smell of smoke and fish I turned to find Tyler hovering over the fire preparing breakfast. “Good morning.” I said as I stood up from where I fell asleep. I must have been really tired to be able to fall asleep last night after what happened. Either that or I was having strange dreams and that’s saying a lot considering.

“Last night when you saw me, you didn’t run”.

Guess I didn’t dream the whole event after all. “You didn’t chase me. You gave me no reason to run.”

“I could have killed you last night do you know that? It’s not safe for you to be with me and now that you know why, you should just leave”.

He was angry, I could tell, well actually anyone could tell, but I just stared at him. Could he be any more ridiculous how could I go back when I had nothing to go back to? He didn’t hurt me and for some reason I knew he never would. All I had to do was convince him to stop trying to get rid of me because I was staying. But I had to find out what was going on with him or to be more specific, how it was even possible.

“Tyler, what are you?”

“You know the creature that everyone says is out in the woods, the one that attacked that man about two weeks ago, well that’s me”.

I fell silent. I didn’t know what I was supposed to say, I didn’t even know what he was. I knew everything wasn’t ok but he was my friend and I didn’t want him thinking I thought of him as a monster and honestly I didn’t.

He looked scared and all alone so I said the only thing I could think of, that everything was going to be ok and then I hugged him. I just hope I was right.

Time had passed and it was almost eight o’clock we had to gather wood for the night. Luckily Tyler had brought food with him and was good at hunting but how were we going to keep living like this? We needed some kind of plan on what to do next. We split up to gather wood for the night.

I was by a small river when I saw something coming. It growled, I figured it must have been Tyler. He came closer, “Tyler?” he was coming towards me so I just waited, but it wasn’t Tyler.

This one looked different, in a way like Tyler, but everything else was different with almost golden hair and shimmering blue eyes, it look like a Tiger! I ran as fast as I could, but it didn’t matter much when you were running away from a huge creature. I lost sight of it when I turned a corner, but it quickly picked up on my trail and followed me. I kept running but it was coming at me at an incredible speed and I was scared silly. I needed help.

I had almost worn myself out when it came closer ‘No’ I thought this could not be how I ended. Then right before it jumped at me it was attacked from the side.

Finally Tyler had showed up. He was in his full wolf form growling at the creature. Tiger? Whatever. They were at each other’s throat fighting for me! For different reasons than the normal teen fantasy though, sadly. It was a crazy fight and before I knew what was happening Tyler was down.

The other one looked at me I knew I was next. So I ran as fast as I could hoping it would lose track of me or just go for something else. I ran straight towards a river and stopped. Of all the things…I didn’t know how to swim!

As I turned to leave, the creature was in front of me. There was no way out but I wasn’t about to let it end like this, not with no one knowing where I was. I had to think of something. It was coming straight at me so I screamed and I felt a wave flow through me. The creature backed away and as I stared at it, it transformed to a boy about my own age and he bowed his head to me! Talk about weirdest experience ever.
