Chef went out to get more firewood while Creek guarded Branch. Branch wouldn't quit glaring at him while Creek poked at the fire with a stick.
"Glaring at me isn't going to save you," Creek said.
"It isn't my safety I'm worried about," Branch stated.
"Are you serious? It's not like you cared about any of the others," Creek tried to point out.
"You don't get it, do you?" Branch asked.
"Get what?" Creek challenged.
"I only acted that way because I didn't want anyone to know about my close friendship with Jamie. And she even told me that at the time, she cared about you until you betrayed us and that the real troll she loved wasn't you," Branch said.
Creek became shocked at first. How could Jamie have felt this way? Then he connected the dots and a smirk formed on his face.
"It's you, isn't it? You're the one she's always been in love with and you love her too. You are worried that she'll come and try to save you so she'll fall into Chef's trap, but she'll be mine," Creek taunted.
"Have you met yourself? She'll never go back to you, even if you didn't betray us. She was planning on breaking up with you because you would have a problem with her spending time with me," Branch threw back.
Creek brought his stick he had to poke the fire and brought it to Branch's face.
"You're lying to me. Plus, I wouldn't talk like that if I were you. Who's the one who could inflict major pain right now, mate?" Creek asked.
"Who's the one who's gonna get their butt kicked in the end?" Branch remarked.
Creek let the hot part of the stick touch Branch's cheek and he dragged it slowly. Branch cringed in pain, trying not to scream or cry. Creek lifted the stick to see the burn that was left on Branch's cheek.
"I told you I'd watch what you say," Creek smirked.
Branch exhaled to cover up the whimper he was about to let out.
"Let me ask you something, Creek. Do you really think that Jamie would go back to you if you do anything to me?" Branch asked, trying to ignore the pain on his cheek.
"She will if Chef takes credit for it," Creek answered.
"Even if that were the case, she still wouldn't be with a jerk like you," Branch said.
Creek put the hot part of the stick on Branch's wound that he just caused. Branch held in the scream that he was dying to let out.
"I told you; we'll see," Creek smirked then took the stick off.
He went back to the fire as Branch looked away as a tear went down his cheek. But even though Creek put a hot stick on his cheek, the tear wasn't for him. He was hoping that Jamie wasn't on a rescue mission to find him and fall into this trap. But he was wrong.
