Branch woke up and saw Chef had actually fallen asleep while guarding them. He looked down to see Jamie, still asleep and leaning against him. He managed to get down and kiss her awake. Once they parted, Jamie slowly opened her eyes.
"Morning, Angel," he greeted.
"Morning, babe," she smiled.
"Today feels like a good day for an escape," Branch smirked.
"What do you have in mind?" Jamie wondered.
He looked around and found the burnt stick that Chef used to poke the fire. He scooted closer to it, managed to grab it, broke it in pieces, and grabbed one of the sharper ones. He cut himself free and did the same for Jamie.
"That's part one," he answered.
They hugged and kissed. Once they parted, Jamie smiled so big.
"You ready to get out of here?" Branch asked.
"Let's do it," Jamie answered.
"You aren't going anywhere," a voice said.
They looked up to see Chef, smirking at them. She tried to grab them, but they dodged her every move. This repeated until she managed to pin them both to the ground.
"Now what should I do with you two feisty trolls?" she wondered as she lifted her knife.
But before she could do anything, a rock was thrown in Chef's eye. She stumbled back, screaming how much her eye hurt and letting the couple go. Branch and Jamie looked to see Poppy and the others with Creek held hostage.
"They'll be coming with us," Poppy stated then urged them, "Come on!"
They obeyed as Biggie threw Creek at Chef.
They kept running until they were farther away and stopped to catch a breather. Once done, Jamie and Poppy hugged.
"Are you both okay?" Poppy asked.
"Yeah, we are," Jamie answered.
They parted and Branch and Jamie wrapped their arms around each other.
"Thank goodness that they didn't do major harm to you both," Bridget said.
"If Chef wasn't already banished, she would be now. Or worse," Gristle replied.
Branch and Jamie smiled at how much their friends cared for them.
"Well, let's get back so you two can get married!" Poppy exclaimed.
The others cheered, and Jamie and Branch chuckled. They started on their way back to the Troll Tree.
