I walked over to Lisa and hugged her as more tears streamed down my face. The plane landed a few minutes ago. She brought me over to her car and set my suitcase inside. I got in on the passenger side and she got in on the driver's side.
"So, what exactly happened?", Lisa asked, "Why'd you decide to fly to Florida?"
"I had this boyfriend...well....at least I thought I did. He's in the army and like 30 years old but whatever. We were together for two weeks. Until today. Last night, my dad caught us cuddling. I was cold last night and he warmed me up. My dad decided to kick him out and when I heard, I was really upset. I went upstairs to tell him goodbye and that I loved him but I overheard him on the phone.", I explained, "He was talking to, who I assume was, one of his comrades. They were talking about me. He had told his friend that I was just a mission and that he never loved me. It was all a fake. Now, I don't know what to believe."
She parked her car in a driveway and looked over at me.
"I'm sorry, Lori. Boys can be such idiots when it comes to girls, especially men. My dad told me that boys are dumb and men are stupid when it comes to these types of things. (If you are a guy - I am sorry if I offended you. Please note that I am not talking about all males in this story, just Ron.)", Lisa said.
"Lisa, I loved him. Like, actually loved him.", I said, "Are all guys that selfish?"
"No. Not all.", Lisa said, "Just, have hope, Lori."
Hope. It seemed so far, yet so close. Lisa started walking toward the house and I followed. She took out some keys and unlocked the house. I walked inside after her.
"Lisa? That you?", a male voice called out.
"Yep! I brought a friend of mine over. She's staying with us for a while. That okay with you?", Lisa said and walked into what seemed to be the living room.
"Yeah, that's fine. Why is she staying with us instead of her family?", the male voice asked, clearly confused.
"Boyfriend troubles and family troubles.", Lisa answered, "Lori, come here and meet Jay."
I walked into the living room and spotted a male no older than 22. Lisa stood behind him.
"Hi. I'm Jay, Lisa's fiancé .", the man said and reached his hand out.
I took his hand and shook it, "I'm Lori and fiancé? You never told me you were engaged."
"It only happened about a week ago. I haven't told my family yet.", Lisa said.
"I hope I'm not intruding.", I said, "If I am, I can just find a job and get an apartment somewhere in town."
"Don't worry about it. The house next door is ours as well so that's where you'll be staying. Did you bring your bike?", Lisa asked.
"Yeah. It should be here soon.", I stated and looked at the time on my phone, "Actually, it's here now."
"Perfect! Come on, I'll bring you to pick it up. Jay, can you find the keys to the other house? It'd be nice to give Lori a tour as soon as we get back.", Lisa said and Jay stood up.
"I'll find them.", Jay said, "See you when you get back."
We left the house and my suitcase remained in their entryway. When we pulled into an empty parking lot, I spotted a semi and the back of the trailer was open. A woman came out and was backing my bike up and out of her trailer. I thanked her and she left.
I happily got on my bike and heard my phone ring. I pulled it out and immediately hung up when I realized it was Ron. I'm not in the mood to talk to him or anyone aside from Lisa. I put my helmet on and followed her back to the house.
Jay was standing in front of the house next door to them. Lisa pulled into her driveway and Jay gestured for me to drive up the driveway he was in. I turned into the driveway and parked in front of the garage. Jay and Lisa walked over as I turned the engine off and took off my helmet.
"This is the house you'll be staying in.", Jay said, "Here are the keys, code for the garage, and the garage door opener. Have fun."
Jay walked over to his house and Lisa brought me inside to give me the tour.
"Well, that's everything. Should we be expecting anyone else?", Lisa asked, "Pets, friends, family."
"No. I left my dog with my parents. I couldn't bring him on the plane. Friends, I don't know if any of them live close by. Family, a definite no. And no boyfriends either. Considering he's the reason I'm down here.", I growled at the thought of Ron.
"Okay. Oh! Stacey, Lindsey, and Gabe are actually all living here now with their parents. They all live next to one another. They are actually right next to you. Lindsey's house is next to you at least. As you saw, the house has all of its furniture, you just might have to get groceries.", Lisa said.
"Fun.", I said, "Well, I'm going to crash after that long plane ride."
"Almost forgot! The house is yours. Jay and I no longer own it. It's already paid off and the bills are in our name.", Lisa said.
"Really?", I asked, "This house is mine?"
Lisa nodded, "Alright, I'll leave so you can get some rest. Night."
"Night.", I said and Lisa left, "I can't believe it."
I walked upstairs to my room and laid down on the bed. It took me a while to fall asleep since I'm used to having some company.
