*Ignore my shitty description of rugby, I was only going off what the request asked for, sorry little fires*

Jake's P.O.V

I sat on the bleachers ready to watch Meg's game of rugby. It was the first game of the season I was able to come to since every other time our games lined up and I always had to play footy at the same time as her game.

But we had a bye this week and I was pumped to see Meg's game. After everything she's been through, I was glad she chose a distraction. Rugby was a rough game and the forwards don't always get it easy but it made me breathe easy when Meg was assigned to the back.

I was shortly blinded by the stadiums lights coming on for Meg's game and I saw the two teams coming out onto the field to warm up. I narrow my eyes and search around for Meg's number 10 when I find it and yell out.

"Go Meg!" I yell out, cupping my hands around my mouth to be a little bit louder. I watched as the number flips around and scans the small crowd of people in the stands, so I wave my arms around to help her see me. When she spots me, I can see her waving and I chuckle and sit down ready for the game to start.

I know there was a huge difference between football and rugby but I did not realise how hard core some of these girls can be. It makes me think of lacrosse. The girls have to use longer sticks which are harder to control and they are rough as heck, and they girls aren't even buff.

But I can see the similarities to rugby and lacrosse with how hard the girls play. I watch Meg as she run around the back searching for openings. The girl has so much stamina it actually makes me happy. We go for runs in the mornings sometimes before school and it makes me happy that she's strong enough to keep up to me and talk to me at the same time.

I heard the crowds gasp and I focus on Meg who is now basically being thrown several metres through the air. My eyes widen and I launch from my seat and run to the fence, jumping it.

"Meg!" I scream her name as I run to her, the game stopped with everyone crowding around Meg.

Meg's P.O.V

I didn't see it coming. Everything was clear. There were no players anywhere near me nor were any paying much attention to me. My team had the ball and as I looked for another opening to slip into it happened.

A girl from the other team purposely slammed into me. I cry out as I hear my shoulder crack and my vision goes black as I go flying backwards, the last thing I heard was Jake's voice, screaming out my name.

****************************

When I come to, I wasn't expecting it; well I guess I wasn't expecting to be knocked out either. I groan softly as I try to move, my entire body hurting.

"Meg—?" I blearily open my eyes to see a faint figure of checkered clothes and I knew it was Jake's flannel, but I couldn't exactly see Jake.

"J-Jake—? What's going on? W-where am I?" I choke out, my voice raspy. I feel Jake sit on the bed and take my hand in his.

"You're at the hospital. A girl red card tackled you and knocked you out. She saw you take an opening and wanted to stop you. She's been banned from rugby for the next three years." I shake my head softly,

"That's not fair. Why is she banned? She should have just been red carded and out for the season?" I mumble confused and Jake sighs squeezing my hand tightly.

"Meg— she dislocated your shoulder and fractured your collarbone. She also sent you flying and when you crashed into the ground you stopped breathing and there is a high chance of a concussion and they're going to be running tests to see if you might have problems walking. Is there anything now that you can tell me? Does anything hurt? Can you feel your legs? How many fingers am I holding up?" I move my head scanning for Jake's fingers but all I see is a blur.

"Jake. I can't see you properly." I choke out, a sob rising in my chest. I hear Jake gasp and then a beep. "J-Jake— what was that noise?" I whimper worriedly.

"I've just called for the doctors. They're going to need to run some tests. But you're going to be okay, I promise. They'll fix everything. You'll be fine, I swear it." He whimpers out and squeezes my hands tightly as I squeeze back the best I can, a slight pain running down my leg meaning things can't be too bad if I can feel them.

"Please don't leave me because of this Jake. I can't handle this world without you." I whimper and I can feel Jake's trembling hand stroke my face.

"I swear I won't ever leave you alone in this world again."

*So what happened with her sight is when she stopped breathing, her brain shut down non-vital organs to try and stay alive but she was deprived of oxygen for a little too long and it damaged her eyes. I will not say if it is permanent or not, that is up to you my readers, so enjoy.*
