Love At First Kingdom

Chapter Five

"Alex...." John nudges me with an elbow as one eye flutters open and lazily slides around the room. Not my sheets. Not my bed.  I frown and sit up, alright I still have a pants but no shirt.  Well, pants are good. Right?

I look at him and smile softly. His eyes are like  sunshine though apple juice. Stunning. He smiles back and leans forward for a quick and loving kiss.

"Good morning to you too."I mutter against his lips and touch our foreheads. Our eyes meet and smiles grow with a small blush.

"I'm glad to see your awake.I missed those eyes." His arms snake around my waist.

"I missed those freckles. " I tilt my bead back and take him in.

"I am pretty missable, hu?" I snort and shove him playfully away as there's a knock at the door.

" John get your ass in gear your late for!...." a man busting in furiose slows his steps when his eyes scan over us. John goes flat bitch faced and cocks an eyebrow, annoyance twitching his lip.

"What Lee?" John huffs and eyes narrow. Lee's eyes fall to the ground and he folds his arms behind his back.

" King Aaron Burr is due here in half an hour. He's negotiating peace terms."  My eyes widen slightly and I look at John nervously. His a muscle in his jaw flutters and sends Lee away with a flick of his wrist.

"My apologies Alex, I didn't know that  Aaron was due today." He gets up and starts getting readyfor the day. My eyes hugerily catch each glimps of skin and every muscle. I nod slowly.

"Its okay... things happen. I'll still be here when you're back." He gives a stiff smile and nods. A quick kiss is pressed to my cheek.

"I'll see you around noon Lexi." He hums and opens the doors.

"See you then handsome." I wink and fall back on the bed as the door shuts.

I'm awoken by shouts and screams later. Its Maria and John. He's snarling at her and shes spitting back. The first wolf snarl sends me falling out of the bed and second snake hiss makes me scramble to listen against the door.

" He's insane!" Maria snaps,I can imagen her throwing her hands up and pace the hall.

"Its a logical settlement. His army is larger and more powerful then we could ever imagen. And he holds a certian... playing card above our heads. We do what he says until that card is gone , until then we play by his rules." John huffs back.

" Then we clip the wings on his card and we end everything there! I am not going to be his little... maid for the rest of my life because he can't play nice! The land was split up for a reason !" Heels click by the door and I scramble back.

"And risk everything we have here? Id rather kiss his rings then kill thousands of lives. He'll pick off my subjects until I'm forced to make a move if I dont comply !"

" Well thank God he doesnt know about Alex or we'd all be screwed!Humans are worth alot outside of here."

It goes silent.

"He will not know about Alex. " John growls. I can hear his teeth bare." If anyone in the court even breaths his name under the sky either bring their head to me or them alive. Should the sun or moon even hear a breath of his name, the final card will come knocking on our door. "

Its silent again.

"Yes sir. " And those ruby red heels click away.
