"So, what the hell is he doing here?" John's eyes narrow at me as I snag my knife off the table and stuff it into my belt.
"He's a friend John. Relaxe." Laf chides as he follows after me closely. I scan the room critically and lick my lips.
"I'm from the northern resistance."I pick a juicy apple up from a bowl and take a bite out of it. John scoffs and starts laughing.
"Impossible. The northen resistance fell a month ago. You shouldn't even be alive, considering you're human." He sneers at me and shakes his head.
"Well, I bested your ass pretty quickly." I smirk at him as I sit on the table top." Holding my own for three weeks was harder." Anger flashes across John's face and eyes go to Laf where hes smiling and holding his tounge.
"At least I'm not a second class citizen. " He snarls at me and his eyes point to the cuffs peaking out from under my sleeves.
"Get your head out of your ass." I growl at him as I stand ." We're both on the same side here, but we dont have to like eachother. If you're truely fighting for the humans freedom you wouldn't even think about bringing that up." His eyes study me till the count of three.
"Where were you born?" He cocks his head.
"Why does it matter?" I throw the apple away.
"It all matters Alex. How are we suppoused to trust you if you can't trust us?"He puts a hand on the hilt of his sword.
"I was born just outside of New York, right on the edge of the woods." I look out the window and frown. Everyones eating dinner at the tables in a low hush, listening to our conversation.
"Who are your parents?" He looks out where I'm looking.
"I couldn't tell you." I shake my head. " I never knew them."
"I'm sorry." His eyes sadden and gaurd seems to drop a notch.
"Its okay..." I sigh and glance around the room. I might get to met my parents.
"It's getting late." John notes. "You must be tired. I'll take you to your room." He nods his head at me and starts leading me down a hall.... I know this hall. This was the hall I walked down the first time I came here.
"Are the legends of the Hamilton's true?" I look out the windows and lake shimmering in the distance. He smiles and laughs.
"Yes they are. I've personally served with them multipul times. They're one hell of a pair of mates." He stops infront of a door. My old room...
"They're mates?" I blink. No one told me that.
"Intresting, hu?" He smiles at me." A human and a Fae, who would've guessed? They're all but connected at the hips." I can't help but let my own smile shine through. A human and a fae. Thomas and I. An unlikely duo.
"I certainly wouldn't have."I shake my head as he pushes the door open." Well, good night John. We'll talk more tommrow."
"Good night Alexander. Sleep tight." He nods and heads back to the hall where it's now filled with laughter and singing.
I smile after him and shake my head as I slip into thw room. Its exactly the same as the first time I came here. I smile and look around.
"Perfect..." I sigg and collapse. I let myself fall into a deep sleep.
And by midnight I'm up and pacing the roon fidgiting. It's too hot and I feel like I'm coversd in grim.I haven't slept without Thomas or Philip by my side in months. It feels lik part of me is missing. I run a hand through my hair and the lake catches my head.
